Unexpected July 4, 2008 I started feeling that this book was not for me. I was looking for something which might give me practical insight into a real and increasingly urgent problem. However, after getting into it, I started to see the light at least midway along the tunnel. Use this book to get on the right lines. It is actually nicely quirky and challenging. You will learn more from it than you at first realise.
Cost cutting July 4, 2008 One suspects this book will become increasingly relevant over the next couple of years. Cost-cutting is not as easy as the last time corporates had to turn their focus to it. There is no longer so many easy wins; as quickly as some costs are cut, others will inevitably rise as a result of input cost inflation, whether oil- or China-related. This book provides an intelligent path through the maze. Strongly recommended.
Great Read June 18, 2008 Sent this book by a friend - who recommended it.
Authoritative, yet filled with no-nonsense approach to cutting costs in a business. Pithy, witty and informative - it's a must-read for any level of management.
Practical advice for the now June 18, 2008 I bought this book hoping it would give me practical pointers to help my business. I wasn't disappointed. It was like having a top management consultant's services for free. And the writing is clear and intelligent.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants straightforward tough advice that you can act on.
driving down cost June 17, 2008 As Management Today said Wileman is "the dark knight of cost cutting." I never thought a book about cost cutting could be such a good read. Every business needs to cut costs on a continuing basis and Wileman gives umpteen practical ways of acheiving that. Time spent with this wise counsel will be time well spent.
