| Customer Reviews:
BUY THIS BOOK! April 15, 2008 Having read a few books on this subject I can definatly say that this is the most comprehensive and unbelievably thorough book on this subject.
Every eventuality is catered for and analysed in depth with very helpful mnemonics, hints and tips. Eric Shepard has wrote an amazing book that I wished I had going through Police training. However, no matter what training you have had, be it tier one or tier five you will benefit from this book.
It is well written in an accessible format that allows the reader to dip in and out as necessary.
Too often Officers go in to interviews poorly prepared and lose the most vital opportunity in the investigation.
This book however is not just about suspect interviews, it covers statement taking and ways to improve on this including the memory and it's part in the process as well as ensuring you maximize the full potential of witnesses.
I can't stress enough how much you WILL benefit from this book, you will not be disappointed.
Investigative Interviewing: The Conversation Management Approach March 15, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Investigative Interviewing: The Conversation Management Approach is comprehensive practical text; one that would be of use whatever the point in the career or development of the reader. Its non-academic style guides the reader through the practicalities of the task whilst informing them of the underpinning science. Its many examples reflect the reality of dealing with victims, witnesses and suspects within the criminal justice system and offers the reader useful guidance to achieve interviews of the highest evidential, professional and ethical standards.
It is a comprehensive volume that will provide the reader with the initial knowledge and skills and thereafter become a valuable reference that can be dipped into at any time to hone professional skills to a very high degree. This book should be required reading for all police officers and investigators in the UK and in particular those following the I.C.I.D.P. programme.
