Baffled... February 18, 2008 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
Bought this book on the basis of the reviews and frankly having read it I'm a bit baffled. We all need to do the simple stuff well - this is the basis of success. But this book is so simplistic it will tell most people nothing more than most already know. And manages to stretch the book to way longer than it need be(admittedly with lots of spacing between paragraphs). This may be fine if the delivery, the writing, was engaging enough to give tried and trusted advice some fresh writing. But ut doesn't. It's written in terms of the 1st person with the authr telling us in langauge beloved of the American self-help books of old - very simple language with lots of stories of what the author has done. The book cover says '..the most original and insightful book on communication'. Erm,,,,sorry, but no it isn't.
Brilliant! February 13, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is the best business book I have ever read. I was working out how to write a pitch for my new business and this book jumped out at me. It is a good buy because it gives you information on precisely how to communicate your pitch in order to maximise sales. It is so obvious when you know, but strange how very few people know it. It explains how to do this in a variety of contexts - presentation, sales pitch, networking and referrals. This is very readable, which you can't put down once you start. This author has a brilliant mind and I am very impressed by what his guidelines have achieved for others. If you follow the advice he gives you are certain to increase your sales.
Very Practical and Easy to Read and Practise February 2, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I ordered this book after surveying the reviews and listened to Andy on his website. Defintely the author is the right person in giving instructions in how to communicate since from early age he had to communicate with his blind mother and also had worked with hundreds of clients. I really liked the book and started to implement some of the tips and practices with success. This is certainly not a "one-time" read book but rather a reference book that depend on occasions ( presentation, networking, socializing, etc) can be used.
Fantastic advice from the very first page! November 28, 2007 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book was recommended to me by a business associate so I bought a copy and couldn't put it down until I had finished. There is so much solid, practical advice in it that you really do learn something from every page.
As someone who does a lot of networking and who regularly presents to clients my copy of THE JELLY EFFECT has now become my business bible as I can actually see my business benefiting from the advice given. I have bought a copy of this book for my staff as well as for clients so that they too can reap the rewards.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to be more effective and successful in their business.
Practical advice you can use straight away November 18, 2007 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I recently bought the book on recommendation, I have used techniques from it both in work and outside to great effect. I have shared Andys simple approach with others and found real personal benefit.
