Even Funnier than the Book January 31, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a very funny book of football anecdotes and for those of us of certain age brings back memories of certain players. In fact, some of the names go back even further than I do.
Ricky Tomlinson is the ideal man to compile these anecdotes. Certainly for me while reading the book I had this picture in my mind of Ricky with his heavy Liverpool accent telling these stories down at the local and having everyone in stitches and then I got the DVD and it was even better.
Here are a couple of one liners. There are literally hundreds of them:
Malcolm Allison: "Our 'keeper Joe Corrigan many be concussed, but it's difficult to tell with him as he always looks a bit dopey."
David Beckham: "My parents have always been there for me, ever since I was about seven."
Many of the anecdotes are several pages long but there is also a good assortment of one liners, like those above. Gaffs from players, managers and commentators alike.
If you are a football fan, you can't help but love this one.
Not even a football fan November 30, 2007 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
The statement has to be made, you either like Love or hate Ricky. I would like to think that his autobiography changed a lot of peoples mind's about him, but we'll never know. But the DVD... If Ricky's not your cup of tea, this DVD really wont change your attitude towards him, and what we Ricky fans would be howling with laughter at others will sit straight faced. My family sat and we all laughed and laughed, and even cried. What makes this DVD so good, is that you can see Ricky is genuine in what he is saying and watching and enjoying it ! None of my family are football fans, we are Ricky fans, and this is what made us buy it, and were glad we did. 1 bit of advice, save it for a special time, it's far better enjoyed with your friends and family than by yourself.
RICKY ON TOP COMEDY FORM !!!!!! November 12, 2007 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
This is Hilarious. It's a cross between a comedy show with Ricky & the best sporting clips. Some of these type of DVD's can just be a bunch of clips which have all been seen before. This is totally different. It's more like a Ricky Tomlinson comedy show & even if you're not a fan of Rickys the clips are refreshingly new (aswell as some old classics, given a different twist by Ricky's humour). Highly Recommended, great gift or just to watch & have a laugh on your own
