Amazon.co.uk Review The debates have already been raging across the Internet over whether Family Guy has peaked, whether it's the funniest show on television at the moment, and whether it's better than The Simpsons, or some way behind it. Yet while most will agree that season five isn't the best the show's creators have produced, don't let that blind you to the sheer joy contained within this DVD set.The highlights of Family Guy for many, of course, are Stewie the ingenious baby and the family's dog Brian (arguably the sanest one of the lot), and both are in fine form here. And while this series again allows many of the supporting characters a space in the limelight, it's Stewie and Brian who remain responsible for some of Family Guy's funniest moments. Bluntly, there are plenty of them. Still, there's little getting away from the fact that season five lacks the spark that energised the superb first two or three series, and as a result, there are episodes here that are good where they were once great. There are, still, plenty of examples of the old magic, and it's still primarily a real pleasure that's pretty much guaranteed to raise laughs from those who don't mind their entertainment with a bit of edge. But it'll be interesting to see where Family Guy goes from here, and whether its real glory days are permanently consigned to the past. --Jon Foster

So funny June 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Each episode is individual, and they are all equally funny, some in fact funnier than others, but overall, a brilliant season and compliments the phrase "value for money".
Family guy For this cheap? December 4, 2007 This by far the best series yet and had me laughing so hard i couldnt catch a breath ha! The best bit is how cheap this is on amazon as its only a tenner how amazing is that?
Brilliant November 3, 2007 I have not seen series 6 yet, so I am not including that, but this is my favourite series of Family Guy so far. It has everything you'd expect from the show, unbelievably offensive jokes, brilliant hilarious storylines, and scenes that will make you laugh out loud. This is Family Guy at its best.
The episodes on this dvd are great, if decreasing slightly in greatness towards the end. I love the episode where Peter starts his own religion to workship Fonzy from Happy Days, but there are so many other great episodes that I couldn't possibly pick a favourite.
If you are looking for good old offensive entertainment, and don't mind being a little offended yourself, then this is the dvd for you.
"He's knocking on the back door, should I let him in. IM SCARED!!" October 5, 2007 Now I dont agree with the whole "I'll give it a one star cos of the whole split the series into smaller box sets fiasco" cos it doesnt change the fact that FG is awesome. Series 5 (or the last half of series 4..... whatever you want to call it) is hilarious and still as sick as ever. I must admit you do get more for your money with the simpsons boxsets but dont let that cloud your judgement. SHA BOOPY!! (you know what i mean when you watch it)
Freakin' Awesome September 24, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I highly rate this DVD boxset as I thought the extra bits to some of the cutted TV episodes are awesome. I would've put 5 stars but the lack of extras doesn't make it a perfect DVD boxset. But as a fan of Family Guy, This is an excellent buy.
