Amazon.co.uk Review
Truncated to a slim 11 episodes as a result of the writers' strike that was ongoing in America during its production, Heroes' second season nonetheless packs enough in to keep the momentum rolling on one of the most exciting Stateside shows of the moment.

Heroes is, at heart, the comic book tale of a varied group of people, each with special powers that they struggle to come to terms with. With such powers, of course, come troubling foes and situations to face, and that proves to be the case here. So this time, we pick up four months after the events of the first series, and there's the small matter of the Shanti virus to contend with. This provides the main thrust for the series' story arc, and allows room for several interesting sub-plots to develop too.

Yet while, in the world of Heroes, you suspect that this second series will never rank with the best, there's easily enough here to justify the asking price, and the show emerges easily with its reputation intact. Even when it's not at the top of its game, Heroes is exciting, interesting and polished entertainment. --Jon Foster

2 out of 5 stars Series 2 disappointing   July 4, 2008
Mildly entertaining but way, way overated. Admittedly there are some excellent scenes, but there are too many pretty awful ones with corny dialogue and acting that spoil the whole. Some of the hero characters I like, but too many have no depth or appeal about them (especially the new ones introduced in Series 2) - perhaps they are going to be developed over the next few series, but am I bothered? I liked Sylar in Series 1, but at the end of Series 2, I was left wondering, can he bring anything new to the third Series?
At the end of the day this is entertainemnt for big kids really, and that's ok, but I wouldn't kid myself that there's anything deeply philosophical here.

4 out of 5 stars Volume 2: Eleven weeks   July 4, 2008
I absolutely loved season one of Heroes; it was exciting, dramatic, emotional, and great! But the second season lost a certain element that made the first season so great!
I'm gonna say it's probably because of the writer's strike that caused it.
However, the season was still absolutely great and a must-own.
There are only eleven episodes and it only seems to get going and then it's the finale, but great anyhow!

1 out of 5 stars The truth of the matter   July 1, 2008

When this came out last year i remember everyone saying "this is better than Lost, 24 etc..." and i thought to myself, lets just wait and see how it does in the long run (how can it be compared to 24 when its been sucessful for the past 7 years) then this 2nd season came and thankfully i was proved correct, the show didnt have what it took to survive and so thankfully this show is back in the gutter where it belongs while 24 takes the reins for best show... the truth will always come out

4 out of 5 stars Generation Effect   June 16, 2008

Heroes season 2 (Generations), begins four months after the events of Kirby Plaza (Season 1 - How to Stop an Exploding Man). The main plot arc of "Generations" deals with the Company and its research on the Shanti virus, exploring the history of the Company's founder. Interwoven with the main plot are several secondary plots introducing a host of new characters. These include the journey of new characters Maya (Dania Ramirez) and Alejandro from Honduras to the United States; Monica Dawson (Dana Davis) discovering her powers in New Orleans; Hiro's journey to Feudal Japan, where he meets his childhood hero, Takezo Kensei (David Anders) and Elle Bishop's (Kristen Bell) search for Peter Petrelli.

After a extremely well writing and well acted first season, season 2 is a mixed bag. The introduction of a number of new principle and secondary characters leads to a neglect in the development of some of the original characters, most notably Niki Sanders. Episodes are also slow moving in comparison to the first season, again likely due to the secondary plots involving the new characters. The highlights of season 2 is the portrayal of Angela Petrelli by Cristine Rose, who frequently outshines the principle cast and the introduction of Kristen Bell as the sociopathic Elle Bishop. Standout episodes include; Four Months Ago... & Powerless.

2 out of 5 stars er, it's gone boring   June 5, 2008

I loved season 1 of Heros but season 2 drops like a lead balloon. No wonder the creater of Heroes apologised to the US about season 2. What could have been? Hiro was my favourite from season 1 but in 2 his story is sooooooooo boring. I would rather poke cocktail sticks into my eyes than watch his dragged out 'adventure' to Japan back in time.

Peter and Nathan's stories were great but we don't see enough of them and wtf happened to Sylar? er, nothing significant happens. So in conclusion it is boring.
