A Classic introduction to K9 & a minor glitch thanks to 2 Entertain July 4, 2008 Well, it was fantastic seeing K9 for the first time again! Actually K9 Mark I, he remains with Leela at the end of The Invasion of Time. Are we keeping track? There will be a quiz in time to come!! Anyway, down to the fault on the disc. The episode should end with the Nucleus re-materialising to normal size. Unfortunately, the scene in which the Doctor & Leela banish him from the Doctor's mind appears immediately after the previously mentioned scene! End of the world, I think not!! Live with it, though I have been sent a replacement, which I am yet to receive! God bless the postal service!!! & do hope that the scenes will appear in the correct order!! Fill you in later about that!! Buy when you can & enjoy. As for K9 & Company, K9 Mark III, that is, I am truly glad it was Sarah Jane, who after so damn long, got her own series. Rumour has it K9 will get his, stay tuned for updates. Highlights of this story, the unveiling of K9, Sarah Jane kicking butt & K9 singing!!! It is not a personal favourite of mine but it is a pleasant time killer. Thank Goodness there will never be a sequel!!!
ITS ONLY A SMALL FAULT! June 29, 2008 0 out of 8 found this review helpful
I wish everyone would just stop complaining about the small mix up of scenes at the end of episode 3 of The invisible enemy! Its a small fault! They may be the wrong way round but its about 40 seconds worth of mix-up which your mind can put in the right order! Also the K-9 and Company DVD is also OK! The story is good and would have been a good series if it continued. The box-set is well designed by Clayton Hickman and has some really good special features! JUST PLEASE STOP CALLING THE FAULT A MAJOR ISSUE!!!! If you do happen to get a faulty one, just send it off and get a better one! Easy...
K9 Tales DVD Fault June 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The fault on the "The Invisible Enemy" disc, at the end of episode three, has been published on the Doctor who online web site. 2Entertain has a helpline to ring 0207 612 3186 or visit dvd.support@bbc.co.uk. Basically if you have already purchased this box set send the Invisible Enemy disc back to Dvd Support, 2Entertain, 33 Foley Street, London, W1W 7TL and they will send you a replacement. I've not had mine back yet however, so probably best to wait till it's re-issued if you've not already bought it!
GET A LIFE- THE INVISIBLE ENEMY DVD PROBLEM June 24, 2008 0 out of 19 found this review helpful
HAVING SEEN THE REVIEWS OF THIS DVD RELEASE, ALL I CAN SAY 'GET A LIFE' I CAN NOT BELIEVE THE OVER REACTION TO THIS SITUATION. I, FOR ONE, WILL NOT BE RETURNING THE DVD TO 2 ENTERTAIN FOR A REPLACEMENT COPY,BECAUSE I TOOK THE VIDEO VERSION OF THE EPISODE IN QUESTION AND TRANSFERRED IT TO A DVD-RW, SO THE SITUATION IS SORTED FOR ME. THIS SITUATION IS THE FIRST PROBLEM SINCE 'THE FIVE DOCTORS@ MUSIC PROBLEM ON ITS FIRST DVD RELEASE, SO COME ON.
A poor, poor effort from 2 Entertain made worse... June 23, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Having read the stuff about the mastering error, naturally I checked out the DVD that came from Amazon the other day. And yes - horror of horrors - the giant shrimp/ cliffhanger sting is seen and heard before the penultimate scene, which then cuts back into the closing titles.
Clearly I was devastated...
But then I got to thinking, you know how a misprinted stamp becomes very valuable by virtue of its rarity? Well, perhaps in years to come these first flawed pressings of The Invisible Enemy will become highly collectable?!... :0)
Mind you, even were it faultless this must still be one of the worst combinations for a Doctor Who DVD set (and 2 Entertain are making some pretty peculiar choices about what to release at the best of times). I can't be bothered to send my faulty disc to 2 Entertain, but if Amazon will accept it as a defective return and give me a refund then that really would be a pretty good result as far as I can see. Wish me luck...
P.S. I must commend Clayton Hickman's brave attempt to make the cover of K9 and Company look as exciting as any James Bond Movie poster (an Austin Metro emerging from a ball of flame - I ask you). At least that gave me a good laugh in what would otherwise have been a very negative buying experience through Amazon's website...
