Frustrated iPod user May 30, 2008 This product is not one which I would recommend, it has consistently failed to provide an acceptable listening experience in my car.
Great value for money April 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having borrowed the Griffin version of the itrip for a trial from a friend I was very dissapointed in the constant interference in my car.
I decided to try this Belkin one to use in a hire car. I wasn't expecting too much but was very suprised how good it sounds when tuned in.
It's not as crisp as using a hard wired connection but is easily as good as radio signals in my car.
All in all great value for money. A pleasant suprise.
Fatally Flawed for me April 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Firstly this item does not work effectively with the Ipod Touch. The unit does not seem to change frequencies while attached to the Touch, and certainly does not display the transmitting frequency on the Ipod Touch screen. Consequently to get it working in the first place I needed to borrow my sons Nano to tune it in, then switch to the Touch afterwards.
As a result, today when I drove north up the M1 I could only use it for ~25 minutes in a 4 hour journey because of the poor radio performance of the 'clear' FM frequencies I stored from home. As I live in the south east there are far fewer FM stations available. Around the M25 there are almost no clear frequencies at all. If you own a Nano, then it may be acceptable to re-tune it on the fly, but for me, apart from 'near to home use', this item is useful only as a car charger.
Cant fault it March 26, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I can imagine if you live in a very urban area or big city then you may have problems locking into a particular frequency for any length of time but I have had no problems whatsoever. Sounds great and as I drive a car that would alter the whole look of the dash if I changed stereo it's the only solution for me to be able to have my ipod whilst driving. I highly recommend this product. Great sound and probably the most user friendly item I own
works great February 19, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I live in a community (not a commune) and we share cars here, so i can be driving any one of 15 different cars or vans. this tuner works in all of them, new cars and old cars alike, its easy to use and the sound quality is just like listening to the radio. my only complaint is that there is no stand for the ipod, which is a real hassle in some cars. I should also point out that i use a 2nd generation nano, i don't know how it works with 3rd generations.
