4 out of 5 stars A must Speakerphone by Jabra   July 4, 2008
A great piece of electronics from Jabra. I had one of their headsets and had no problems. I wanted a more upto date headset so ordered a SP5050. Easy to set up, pairs straight away with my SPV C600 and sounds great. Sounds quality is good even at motorway speeds. Only down point is it only comes with a car charger, no Mains kit. You need to buy a 12v to 240v inverter which runs 1 amp. Looking on site only cost about 4, 5.

5 out of 5 stars Easy and thin   June 16, 2008
This is my first hands free and it does what it says! It is small and discreet so does not block your vision when driving. The sound is good for me, but I do close my sunroof to talk.

The first time I tried to synch with my Motorola phone it could not find it, but once the unit was fully charged it found it right away. Now, I just turn it on and, beep, they automatically find each other. So EASY that I find I really do use it every time I drive.

I wish I had bought a charger for home use, as it is a bit distracting to have the recharger cord down to the lighter while driving. That said, I have not yet charged it since my initial full charge... so the battery life is very good!

4 out of 5 stars quiet   April 8, 2008

This is the first speakerphone I have used, really easy to set up and connects instantly to my nokia 6300.
Sound quality is very good when driving steadily around town, however, on the motorway it is far to quiet having to slow down to 50mph to hear anything. I have to agree with a previous review, why have a volume control its always on max!

I purchased an earlier Jabra hands free kit for almost 40.00, it has lasted over 3 years, but sadly it looked a bit retro for my new car so I thought I would try this model: nothing wrong with the old one and now priced at just over 13.00 still makes a fabulous buy. It is now sat in my wife's car.

Onto my new SP5050, it is sleek and very light compared to its predecessor and set up is extremely quickl and simple: matched with both a Nokia and Motorola telephone with absolutely no problems at all. It fits onto the visor with a simple, yet robust clip and in terms of functionality is very simple to use.

Does it have downsides, well it is not as good as a wired in system, but it is transferrable to another vehicle. Unfortunately unlike my outgoing model, which you could change the batteries this model will have to be discarded if the battery goes: the batteries in my old model are still going strong so that should not be a problem and every new car will have blue tooth included in the radio in the next three years anyway.

From a sound point of view, reception is good and even at Motorway speeds you can chat quite easiy and people can hear me loud and clear. I can recommend this model to anyone looking for a portable solution and if cost is an issue, look at the previous model, it looks like something from startrek, but it operates fine.

2 out of 5 stars Simply not loud enough!   February 29, 2008

Having used this product for over a month now I struggle to agree with the comments of other users over volume. All too often I find myself neck forced towards the sun visor trying to hear what the person I am speaking to is saying. Probably not the safest way to drive...? I see no reason for volume control, as I cannot believe a setting less than 'full' would ever be required. On a positive note, the auto power down after losing connection with the phone saves on battery power but alas for me this doesn't compensate for the volume issue.
