 Easy to use but poor sound May 30, 2008
Far from the 'great sound' mentioned by other reviewers, I find the sound lacking totally in treble. It's a muddy sound with no real clarity.
This is a shame as the radio works extremely well.

Well made radio with good quality sound. To claim that this radio will run for 35 hours on 6 size C batteries is completely untrue. You will be lucky to get 2to 3 hours.It does however run well off the mains.
I hope you never have to contact the Pure technical department for help or advice because you will not get it and this despite the promises made on their website. I shall think twice in future before buying their products again.

Dab radio and FM radio.
It's not overloaded with functions, is quite lightweight, but does a good job at playing the music.
You won't get thunderous bass, but you get a well-balanced sound with enough bass and high end for a very decent sound.
Bear in mind that this unit's battery is 28 - half the price of the radio itself.
I would probably think more about portability and batteries next time I purchase a DAB radio.
If you don't need the battery/portable aspect, great. If it's worth radio cost plus battery cost, then I'm not quite as certain.
Overall, it is a very nice unit - just wish the battery was cheaper.

If you're looking for a cheap, reliable radio with good sound quality then you've found it.
I bought this for my wife to use during her maternity leave. I wanted something so simple that even a dunce like me could set it up and robust enough to survive the attention of our two-year-old daughter.
This has done the job superbly. It took a few minutes to set up and has survived being grabbed and dropped by grubby fingers and we've had no problems with it.
Does Exactly What You Would Expect May 1, 2008
This is a very nicely designed and constructed radio for the price. Reception is much more successful than my other (much more expensive) DAB receiver. Set-up is very straightforward and it has all of the features I am ever likely to need on what is a truly portable radio. I opted for the chargepack, which is a tad expensive, but ultimately saves a good deal of my hard-earned given that the radio will be used a lot in portable mode. Nice one Pure!
