Great office printer July 16, 2008 HP Officejet Pro L7780 Printer
I just bought this printer and have been using it for a few days so I thought I'd write a review of my experiences thus far. I had read a few reviews before purchasing it and was somewhat confused as it had got mixed ones.
Setting up was very easy. By this, I mean I could send a fax within seconds of turning it on, connected it to the home network which only involved putting in the network key etc. The only thing that took me more than 5 minutes to do was to set up the network folders. The instructions included were rubbish really. I had to go onto the hp website to get the full intructions but once I did, i had no issues accessing folders set up on my pc from the printer and sending stuff to them. Also, I haven't experienced any issues such as network dropouts etc. That kind of stuff could be down to the router rather than the printer itself.
I've only really printed documents so I cant really comment to much on the qulaity. I did however print a 4" x 6" photo which came out better than I expected. It also prints right to the edges with no white border which I like.
All in all, I would recommend this printer and I do think its worth the extra money. There arent too many other machines that have as many features as this.
home office printing June 12, 2008 Bought this machine a few weeks ago, took a while for the set-up process to run its course but very smooth installation.[ using xp ]. I use the fax a fair bit and this works well. Printing is a little noisy but is compensated by the speed at which the pages are turned out! Very impressed at the quality of the picture printing ! cannot comment on the running costs yet but the replacement cartridges are very reasonably priced and there are individual ink levels which are very clear to read. One very useful feature is the 250 page paper tray ! I have always used HP printers and, contrary to a previous review, the is by far the best I have owned.
Worst HP all-in-one - good spec, awful in action. February 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've owned several HP all-in-ones. Previously my verdict was: great features, flimsy build (so: buy it but with extended warranty). But this one has just too many faults. (Read the amazon.com reviews to discover more of them). My experience with the printer: - keeps wanting to reinstal - keeps thinking paper is out on tray 2 - gives up printing complex pages (gives up on the whole job!) - gives up randomly during the print run - noisy printing - resource-hungry; I've never known this with previous HPs, but the laptop virtually freezes at times during spooling - now this is with direct cable connection, so I could experiment, but given the other problems I won't waste my time I think, and will just reject the printer.
When this works it's a great printer. But if I could have my previous HP all-in-one back instead of this new machine I'd do it tomorrow. Maybe it's time to give up on HP.
An excellent all in one replacement for a colour laser July 19, 2007 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I purchased the L7780 to replace an Oki C5200n colour laser printer and an HP Office Jet 6110.
I've now used the machine for 2 months and can't fault it. I was worried about print quality - but it is excellent. Scan speed is excellent. WiFi printing works fine too. I was worried that the machine would be as flimsy as my old 6110 - but it's solid.
If I had one niggle it is that when printing on duplex in 'normal' quality, there is a brief pause in printing whilst the ink is drying. I solved this by printing in 'draft' quality where the ink does not need to dry - and which is perfect for most documents I print.
Consumables appear to be lasting well too.
The final great thing about this printer is that when not in use it is completely silent. I was used to the humming of a colour laser in the background for 20 minutes or so after it had completed printing. Well done HP!!!
