 Good photos, abismal photo response July 15, 2008
I can't fault the quality of the photos that this camera gives, they're crisp and deep and all that, however, I feel that I have to give this just the one star for one good reason - its reaction time:
It takes about 4 seconds from when you turn it on to when you can take a photo - and when you press the shutter, it takes about 3 seconds before it actually takes the photo - useless when you are trying to take an action shot or when you have a small child. Be warned.
I'm getting rid of mine because I can't bear that reaction time - I'll revert back to my Fuji F440 for now which reacts in about half a second.

Hi I had a Pentax optio w30 and I hated it, it was soooo slow taking pictures so I sold it and bought this.
Its about half the price of the optio but twice as good, the picture quality is great, the speed it takes pictures is very good (about 1.5-2 seconds on auto settings) the touch screen is pretty good too, you get a stylus type thing for it but for the most part you can use your fingers as its extremely well set out and simple to use, occasionally the response when viewing the pictures can be a little slow but apart from that no worries.
As for the world guide on the camera, well....id delete it infact I did, I had a quick look, it wasn't very good and bizarrely all the included pictures were slightly blurred, I'm not marking it down for that though because as far as I'm concerned its a piece of pointless software they included that takes up half the generous inbuilt memory and has not allot to do with the camera.
Seriously if this camera had been twice the price id still be happy with it, a complete bargain and 5 stars all the way from me

Katie, Why would you rate something one star when you're asking a question, let along having never used the product?! It alters the rating value dramatically.

I bought an l74wide from amazon after biding my time and looking
carefully for a digital camera -wow - i picked well!!
the touch screen is fantastic,face recognition and picture quality
very good,and its very easy on the eye -great looking camera,
from the black finish,blu led on/off switch and onscreen menus.
its also smaller than you would expect,sits in your hands perfectly
when taking photos,a fantastic upgrade from our old 3.2mp camera.
for the money paid its an absolute bargain,very cool and easy to use.
minor grumble -touch menu a bit dull in direct sunlight,but up u can point
and shoot with confidence if no settings need to be changed onscreen.
great all round family use camera,with amazing features.

I bought this at heathrow VAT free. I really just wanted a wide angle lense camera but I was also impressed with the quality of the picture. Usually my photos are a bit crap but this seems to have helped my photgraphic skills.
It also has a large internal memory some of which is taken up by a world tour guide (why they have this is beyond me) but I think this can be deleted.
Overall I like it and would buy another.
