not that great July 23, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this camera after reading all the fantastic reviews here, and I have to say that after using it many times, i'm not that impressed. The main problem I find is that it is really light sensitive and on medium days with not much sun, and indoors.. images are bleached out as if my subjects are in direct sunlight. I've played around with the settings, but nothing has changed.
There are definetly some nice features with this camera, but if a basic photo in medium lighting conditions isn't good, then whats the point?
Delighted June 26, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have used this camera most of the time recently, I have to say I am delighted with the results, the pictures are superb, the quality is so good, I have got perfect pictures at all times. The 10 x focus is a huge added bonus, you can shoot on auto or adjust the settings, I have only used auto using different scene modes with stunning results. Both indoor and outdoor pitures are perfect.Panasonic have delivered with quality, features and price! I give this camera 10/10
A few flaws but otherwise FANTASTIC May 26, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
To upgrade from my old Sony DSC I did some research and came across this camera, soon to become my first panasonic digital camera. I bought it 6 months ago and absolutely love it. It has to be the best camera with its specifications for the excellent value for money! I have used it to photograph a wide range of things from architecture to concerts, club nights to picnics and it has performed beautifully. So the pros and cons:
PROS: -Excellent price -fantastic zoom -lots of different scene selections -very clear 3" screen -easy grip -good night mode picture when you can get it to stay still
Cons: -Antishake doesn't always work -nightmode is often blurry (but that is the case with most cameras) -in bright light the light looks even brighter on screen and comes out very bright in the picture - this has to be the most annoying con -a little bit heavy for a compact
BUT despite its cons I would still give it a massive 5 stars and would give it more if I could. All my friends are envious I have one...does that not tell you anything about the excellent quality of this product?

I've owned one for nearly a year now. Took it on holiday to Africa and used it to photo animals and birds - was happy with results. Although not quite a pocket camera it performs well for its size. The anti-shake technology works for me in good light even on 40 x magnification (optical + digital) In good light the zoom is quick to use giving me detailed action shots which others sometimes miss using more complex cameras. I've since bought one as a present for my son. The main disadvantage is the low battery capacity. Buy two batteries for holidays - more if you are away from mains power to recharge.
Great Little Camera May 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great little camera. I own digital SLRs but wanted something a bit smaller for everyday snaps. This camera fulfills the job perfectly. I agree that taking photos in rooms lit by electric lighting the camera somtimes struggles to focus and images can be blurry, but this is the case with my digital SLR (without the flash on). Photos with kids running about are also hard to be pin-sharp with DSLRs too. In normal daylight, the lens is fast and the quality of image if remarkably good. The menu is straightforward, so much so I've ordered one for my mother who insists on easy-to-use stuff. I myself prefer the chunky feel to the camera, as it's easy to grip, making camera shake less likely. The video is fairly good too, although I mainly use the camera for stills. All in all a cracking buy.
