Great TV - not so good DVR May 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This would be a great combined TV / DVR - picture is great, sounds is great, looks great, just looking forward to the firmware update - read on...
After getting fed up with the problems I was getting (see below) I rang LG Customer Services and was well and truly fobbed off, so I wrote to their customer services department detailing the problems I have with this TV. I was quite shocked when yesterday I received a phone call from one of their customer services people informing me that they hope to fix the majority of the problems in a firmware upgrade. Apparently they have received quite a few letters.
Basically if you have problems with this TV it's best to put it in writing to!!
The address I used is:
LG Electronics UK Limited Service Department 250 Bath Road Slough Berkshire SL1 4DX
Below is a list of problems I have so far with this TV - some I can live with, some I can't.
1. When watching a recorded program, when a scheduled recording starts, a dialog prompts if you want to change channels (obviously you do as you want to record) - the recording is stopped and the live TV is shown. You then have to go back to your list of recordings (this part of the menu is pretty slow) and play the recording again (annoyingly it doesn't start from where it left off - you have to try and fast forward to where you were)
Imagine watching a film that is 2.5 hours long and I am recording 3 hour long programs - the film would be interrupted 3 times and each time you would have to fast forward to where you were! Very annoying.
2. When watching TV and a scheduled recording starts a prompt asks me if I want to continue to change channel and record. It changes channel and you have to press back, usually missing the last part of the show you were watching.
3. So far in the brief time I have used it 3 recording have failed due to timer problems.
4. One recording would not playback as the there was a problem with the file / disk.
5. If you need to slightly change a recording timer - for instance to change it from a one off recording to a weekly one you have to enter the details completely from scratch you can't just edit the one you selected from the EPG.
6. When recording and watching live TV at the same time you loose all the ability pause, rewind, fast forward TV.
7. Pressing stop while watching a recording goes back to live TV - this should go back to the recorded TV menu so you can delete what you have just watched and choose the next thing to watch (or press exit to watch Live TV).
8. You can not use the info button during recording playback to get a synopsis of the program you are watching
9. It does not remember where you last stopped a recording.
10. I keep getting a message saying I need to re-scan as the channel information has changed on certain Channels (or some similar message) (mostly Channel 5 so far)
Pretty good LCD tv with built-in freeview recorder April 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Overall I'm happy with this TV. The hard disk recorder can record inputs from the scart as well as freeview. So you could record from a SKY box or dvd onto the built-in hard drive. The hard drive menu & operation works ok but no-where near as well as the seperate Humax PVR9200 box which I used to have. I've set the timer & recorded progs. Playback quality is great. Watched a few footy matches too. Didn't notice any blur. I bought the CAM with a Setanta card which slots in the back of the tv. Just 25 from tesco.com with connection & 1st months viewing. I can watch Setanta via Freeview ok but not whilst I'm recording another channel.....a message appears "cannot watch a scrambled programme while recording another dtv programme" This could be a real issue which I'm not happy about. Hopefully LG will fix it in a future OTA software upgrade. It sometimes gets confused if I go thru the menus quickly. It pauses & I have to wait several secs for it to sort itself out. Again, a software upgrade should iron out those bugs. I bought it from Richer Sounds who matched the internet price with next day delivery which was 510 & offered a five year at-home guarantee for just 10% of the price, 51...bargain!!!! Great service too. Picture quality is pretty good. Screwed it to the wall which looks great! Can't complain at this price.

I got one a few days ago and have been very impressed. Picture is excellent, the 160Gb DVR is great and very easy to use. The design of the product is great, looks really good. I have only found two bads points so far which have stopped me giving it 5 stars. Firstly when it records it automatically switches the viewed channel to the one needed for the recording. You then need to manually swap back to the channel you want. Secondly you can't archive saved programs to a DVD recorder as there is no option within the TV software, something LG have confirmed. Other than that a great bit of kit.
Hard Drive A Bit Of A Handfull February 2, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The tv its self is top stuff 10 out of 10. And also the harddrive is well done and easy to control. For the first tv to have a built in harddrive its a good start. For the person who only does the occasional recording it will probably be perfect and save a bit of space and dusting. BUT me being some one who seems to record a lot of stuff mainly as most programs i watch are on at the same time these days i have found a lot of small but anoying problems in only the first week of ownership and have had to send it back. The main problem/niggle is that when you are watching a channel and the hdd starts to record another ,the tv changes to that channel and stays there until you change it back manualy.By this time you have missed the crusual last minutes of your program.(been told by LG that this is because the recorder uses the digital tuner you are watching and when you change over channel only then the second tuner starts ,shorly this should be round the other way). In all there is aprox 5 more of these small problems which must be able to be fixed with a software download. If LG ever fix this then mabe i will try them again, but with samsung and others on the way thay will have to do it soon ! . I dont know why anybody else hasnt picked up on this unless its only my tv that had the problem , if so sorry LG...
Quality at the right price! January 25, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have tody recieved my LG 32LT75 LCD with 160G HD.
The quality of the picture and the ease of use are excellent! If you like me get swamped with the technical jargon that surrounds products today then do as i did and go look in the high street shops until you find somthing you like the look of then go home and order it on line. I saved 180 pounds on this TV by buying on line.
The TV was up and running within 15 mins of being delivered, the TV tuned itself in and the recorder is very user friendly.
