Its a cup... March 28, 2008 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is a coffee cup basically. The contents of mine seem to cool at the same rate as a normal mug of coffee (maybe slightly longer but not much)Which seems to defeat the "thermal" point of this cup. Also the sipping mechanism is really poor (very very small sips. Aslo there is a setting on the top of the lid which says "Locked" this is very misleading.... it does NOT mean "Sealed" for instance, therefore I don't know what its meant to do. Turn it upside down , or even just on its side and it will leak in the "locked" setting. What's the point of that? Generally this is a very expensive option which promises much and delivers bad design. Could have been a real winner, with more attention to its function and less on the snazzy looks and marketing, which had me fooled...
It does what is says....... but there's a but........ March 14, 2008 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
At fiteen pounds I was expecting something really special for what is essentially a hot drink holder.
The cup holds approx. a mug and a half of your chosen beverage and this has to be made and then poured into the Brugo. There are three settings on lid of the cup, "locked", "sip" and "tip and cool."
"sip" allows you to drink directly from the cup without it performing its cooling action. "Tip and Cool" allows you to tip a small amount of the liquid into the cooling chamber where it is immediately cooled to a more desired drinking temperature. This is done by tipping the cup away from yourself at a 90 degree angle. And yes ! - It truly does work ! The drink is instantly cooled..... I don't know how, but it s ! And now for the BUT..... The amount of liquid deposited into the cooling chamber when you tip the cup forward is miniscule; what can best be described as a large sip..... This means that to drink a full cup of cooled hot coffee involves an awful lot of tipping and being totally honest became a chore. I eneded up switching the cap to sip to enable me to get a proper mouthful of my drink.
So a mixed review for this gadget.... Does it work ? Yes.... Is it good value for money ? No...
I'd probable keep it if I'd have paid around the 5 mark for it but at 15 I'm afraid it's going back to Amazon......
