This is a great book. The cakes are fantastic (even if some of the colours are not quite my taste). The designs are becoming classics in the world of cake decorating. Techniques and tips are explained clearly. The photographs are gorgeous. I would recommend this to anyone, beginner or experienced cake decorator. The only poor part are the designs for biscuits, they are nothing like the quality of the cakes (if you are looking for beautiful iced biscuits have a look at Peggy Porchen's book, her cakes are lovely too.) However I love this book and look at it regularly. Buy it.

I think the designs are truly inspirational, the photography is stunning and the recipes, most importantly, do work. I think it will appeal to experienced cake makers and novices alike. Can't wait for Book 2!!

I'm not too impressed with the designs in the book but love the fact that I now know how to make chocolate plastique! And her chocolate cake recipe is the best I have ever come across! I ate an entire cake by myself and it was divine!

I bought this book after I looked at the author's website and was amazed by the beautiful cakes they make (www.lvcc.co.uk). I thought the book might be a good source of inspiration - I'm getting married in August and was toying with the idea of making our cake. Anyway, I was really impressed with this book as not only does it feature all the gorgeous cakes that I loved from the website, but it tells you how to make them too in a very clear way - I'm going to try one out for a birthday party this weekend. Trust me, if you are thinking of buying a book on party cakes - this is the one for you. Other books are okay for either decoration or baking, but this is the first one I've come across that cover both so well, as well as tips and techniques for presenting cakes. Happy cake making!

This really is the BEST cake book I have come across. I am a novice cake maker and have decided to make my wedding cake, and this book is truly inspirational. With beautiful photography and easy to follow tips, I highly recommend this book to anyone, whatever your level of baking/decorating experience. It's made me even contemplate packing in the day job and setting up my own cake company!
