Product Description This stylish Volcanic Wok from Le Creuset is the ultimate in cooking equipment. Ideal for cooking stir-fries, curries and noodles, this versatile product can also cook a great casserole. Made from cast iron, it heats up to incredibly high temperatures and retains that heat for long periods of time. Available in a range of other colours, this wok features cast handles, a toughened-glass lid with Phenolic knob and an enamelled exterior. The inside of the wok has been left untreated, and will form its own 'patina' over a period of time

Le Creuset enamelled 36 cm CAST IRON WOK with side handles and a glass lid March 15, 2007 23 out of 24 found this review helpful
Sturdy, functional design and attractive enough to take to the table!
Large flat base, for maximum and even heat distribution, making it easy to move ingredients around and possibly store some against the rounded sides, for e.g. meat to prevent overcooking. Stir-frying/braising/steaming/poaching on any heat source, including induction.
Recipe leaflet included - although limited this does give you a start if new to this version of healthy cooking!
The classic rounded interior is ideal for stir frying and my favourite recipe using my Wok is a handed-down version of a `Prawn and Vegetable Stir Fry', but there is a useful section entitled:-
`Woks and Moroccan Tagines'
in the book:-
`The Cast Iron Way to Cook', by Sue Cutts, one of Le Creuset's consultants, which gives a guide to the use of the Le Creuset Wok, as well as some delicious recipes, including :-
`Peppered Pork Stir-Fry' and `Braised Orange Duck'
Available in a variety of colours, at Amazon, today, some at great prices!
The best and last wok you will ever need!!! March 1, 2006 44 out of 46 found this review helpful
I’ve cooked with woks for years; most you find are either Teflon coated steel or Carbon Steel. I never find that Teflon lasts very long and you have to be careful not to cook anything too acidic (curries) in Carbon Steel, both types are usually made from thin metal so heat retention and distribution is typically poor. These types no matter their cost also generally have flat internal bottoms so you need to use more oil. What a difference the Le Creuset wok makes; while the outside of the bottom is flat to sit on the stovetop the inside is concave so you need very little oil to cook. Because its cast iron you can cook anything you want in it, at virtually any temperature. The wok is very large and sufficiently shallow angled to allow you to push food up the side to cook more slowly while moving whatever you need to into the hotter centre; this is great when cooking meats. Its cast iron construction means its heat distribution and retention properties are excellent as is its durability, I genuinely believe this is the last wok I will ever need to purchase.
my favourite kitchen item! November 30, 2003 25 out of 28 found this review helpful
I use my Le Creuset wok so much it has hardly seen the inside of my cupboards! It cooks brilliantly. The surface is ideal for stir frying, and so much more. I cook all sorts in my wok, from chinese food to soups and curries. Its well worth the initial investment. Its such a solid, substantial piece of equipment, I know it is going to last me years. The glass lid is really useful. If you are looking for a wok, buy this one and I'm sure you'll never regret it!
