Amazon.co.uk Review Tefal's Avanti 6532817P is a thoroughly modern toaster large enough and nimble enough to serve the whole family. Extra-wide self-adjusting slots firmly grip a variety of bread thicknesses and are also perfect for bagels, muffins, waffles or pastries. The four slots are divided into two independently operated sets that have their own six-stop browning control for precise toasting and a stop/eject button. Additionally, the left set has buttons to defrost frozen bread and other items and to reheat previously toasted items that have gone cold. Each set also has a "high-lift" lever to facilitate safe removal of small items and its own removable crumb tray. The sizable toaster is lightweight and easily carried by its inset handle in the back. The handsome exterior is also easy to wipe clean. --Fred Brack, Amazon.com

50:50 chance of success!! May 21, 2006 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Read the reviews and bought a polished chrome one as a present for some friends. They loved it and it makes great toast - any size and any type of bread. So I bought a brushed chrome one for myself. If I was a conspiracy theorist, I would swear that Hovis and Kingsmill are behind the manufacture of my toaster, because I have never burned and thrown away so much bread in my life. The only good point is that I am now eating far more cereal for breakfast.
Top Toast May 18, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I don't particularly like toast from a toaster,i prefer toast from under a grill.Out of a toaster,it's never browned all over, normally white and untoasted around the edges and lacks texture! We always bought cheap toasters, they weren't good and broke quickly. Then we bought this modern piece of art.It brightens up any kitchen, looking modern and expensive but most of all,it makes great toast.Toasting the slices all over without making the bread dry and cardboard-like.Suddenly,i can make good toast while the grill has the bacon, sausage and black pudding under way. Then it all comes together for a great start to any day.Buy one and enjoy. We were so impressed with ours,we bought another as a wedding present for a nephew.Yeh,it was that good,we bought two!!
Uneven toast...that's only half the story... May 9, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
At first it seemed OK, good looks and a bargain, if a little weedy on the mechanical side of things. The timer seemed quite random, so I'd often have to keep an eye on it to avoid burning. Then after about 6 months the left 2 slots failed completely (at least now I could only burn half as much toast at a time, a plus point)
The poor thing limped on, only firing on 2 cylinders, for another year or so...until this morning. The final two slots gave up, and with another flash, and a whiff of smoke, it was gone.
So, I suppose for the price it looked good and was entertaining enough. But if it's toast you're after, look elsewhere.
Do not buy this toaster! April 21, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Toasted badly, timer failed after a very short time. Toaster returned for a full refund. Now using a Russell Hobbs - far superior. Check on the high street. They can't give these toasters away even at half price!
