Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
It takes a certain sort of band to fill Wembley stadium, one unafraid to embrace scale, flirt with pomposity, and perform the odd grand gesture. Watching Muse's live CD/DVD H.A.A.R.P--recorded over two nights in June 2007--you're left wondering if Wembley is quite big enough to hold them. From the grand opening, when Muse ascend from an underground chamber and walk down a central ramp flanked by men in yellow chemical splash suits to Matt Bellamy's lengthy, florid turns at the grand piano, no opportunity is missed to make H.A.A.R.P seem anything less than a spectacle. Shot in high definition, the camera-work is as snappy and dynamic as any movie blockbuster, with special attention to the crowd, who are picked out with sometimes breathtaking detail. Fans may gripe over the tracklisting--the DVD has been edited down, meaning four tracks, including "Bliss" have been left on the cutting floor--but casuals should be satisfied with the selection: there's the hits ("Supermassive Black Hole", "Knights of Cydonia") and on the DVD, a noble rendition of Nina Simone's "Feeling Good".--Louis Pattison

5 out of 5 stars Best Gig Ever!   June 12, 2008
I was there on the DVD day and it was absolutely phenominal. This album is what the 6th star is for.

5 out of 5 stars CAN MUSE GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS?   June 2, 2008

Probably yes, this band go from strength to strength, but this concert is/was amazing. I like the extra footage which shows how nervous they all were beforehand. Chris quietly taking it all in, Dom pacing around nervously and Matts infectious chatter and laugh. At the start we see the band emerge onto stage from an elevator underneath the stage. You can see the look on Matts face as he turns around and views the massive crowd all cheering (I am sure he is thinking how did we get here?). Not much pressure there then lads! They take to the stage as Matt plays the calling sound from 'Close Encounters' on his guitar, they then blast into Knights Of Cydonia and the crowd goes mad. 2 hours of pure bliss (I still can't believe I was at this gig). This is a must for any MUSE fan.

5 out of 5 stars About as good as it gets...   April 24, 2008
I have been a fan for years, ever since the epic showbiz. Im glad that they have released another DVD recording. I have to get my one and only gripe out of the way first...what on earth went on in the editing room! There is a different camera angle every second, I know changing camera angles now and then adds a bit of variety, but come on there is a limit...

The DVD itself is impressive, the menu looks really slick and easy to navigate through the options. The picture quality is also pretty good taking into account the size of the venue. The sound quality is also really good (apart from hysteria where i thought Matts guitar was a bit on the quiet side)

It is an electric performance, starting with some of their higher paced songs, then a fantastic period in which blackout and unintended get a rare runout and then finishing off with some real anthems. My personal favourite is the performance is new born, which i thought was amazing.

The CD is a live recording and is clear, high quality and makes a good compliment for the DVD...no complaints about is

The best part is i can listen/watch this CD/DVD over and over again withoutit ever feeling tedious, great concert and well worth the money!!!

5 out of 5 stars best live band around   April 1, 2008

I'm only going to write about the DVD, essentially because I went on the 17th when it was filmed, so I haven't had much inclination to listen to the audio cd from the 16th. Although if it was as good as the 17th it should merit a listen.
I've been a big fan of Muse for a while (and will concede that it makes this far from impartial), but this was the first time I'd ever been to see them. I was not disappointed in the slightest. From start to finish they delivered an explosive performance, with the amazing music, spectacular set design, added bonuses like the balloon gymnasts during blackout, and a stadium filled with such exhiliration. A must have for any Muse fan, and a good indication of why they are the most exciting live band I've yet seen. My only slight disappointment in watching the DVD back is that they cut the song (that may or may not have been bliss) where they threw tens of huge confetti-filled balloons into the audience. Magical moment ommitted from the DVD. Oh well, buy it :D
