| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.co.uk Review If, like most of the pop-listening public, you heard Timbaland's chart-topping remix of OneRepublic's single "Apologize" before you heard the original, you may be mildly confused about what kind of music the band makes. Timabaland's signature electronic swizzles and "eh-eh-eh"s leave the impression that OneRepublic is a style-heavy outfit a la Maroon 5, but frontman Ryan Tedder's plaintive words and woebegone themes don't fall far from forerunners Keane, Coldplay, and the Fray. Dreaming out Loud chisels away at the dichotomy. "Apologize", stripped of its swizzles, is a gorgeous modern rock song made all the more gorgeous by the urgency in Tedder's striking, unscuffed voice, and a lot of the songs on this record stack up similarly. Which is to say that, although tracks like "Tyrant" and opener "Say (All I Need)" wrap themselves around some seriously stylish production, substance is really this band's thing. A piano played by turns ferociously and tenderly drives the point home, and so do some choice lyrics; if you are inclined to choke up at feelings laid bare, check out "Goodbye, Apathy" and "Come Home" at your own risk. --Tammy La Gorce

Real New Found Talent ! June 17, 2008 I listened to this album on my flight back home as part of the airline's on demand audio. I could not stop listening to it over and over again for almost the entire 13 hours journey. And one of the first thing I did when I got home was to buy this album.
I just simply could not find better words to describe how beautiful this album is.
It has been a while since I come across talent like this. It's just fantastic.
Great! June 11, 2008 Buy this cd, it's just great.
It has a pop/rock sound, but can sound the same most of the way through.
Fantastic May 13, 2008 After first listening to the album i fell in love with the way the tracks seem to draw you in and want you to listen to them over and over again. The obvious songs that have been released will have everyone playing them over and over again but listen on to later tracks and you will discover that they do the same. One of the best albums i have brought in a long while. I actually went to see the band at the Shepherds Bush Empire last night and they were excellent. Sounded perfect like the album, so in my opinion, buy the album and go see them live soon......you will not be disappointed!!!!!
Superb! April 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I heard one song "Someone to save you" a few months back on the radio and I thought it was great, but never knew who it was by, then I heard a few more songs featured in an episode of Smallville (which always features great music by relative unknown bands) and I thought they were awesome, so I had to look them up and find out who they were, it was "One Republic". I knew I liked a few of the songs, so I thought I'd chance buying the album, but I was thinking, like on so many albums today, that other than the featured radio promotion songs, the rest of the album would probably be rubbish, but I am thrilled to say I was wrong. The whole album is amazing! I cannot stop listening to this album, it is stunning from start to finish with every song featuring stunning music and meaningful lyrics. I find it hard to pick a favourite, but I particularly enjoy "Mercy", "Stop and stare" and "Someone to save you". If you have good taste in music, buy this album, you won't be disappointed!
Good, but should have been great. March 25, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
The marketing team behind One Republic were extremely shrewd choosing to release 'Stop and Stare' and 'Apologise' from the album. These are by far the most outstanding tracks on the CD, and i think it was fair to expect great things from this group. Unfortunately after a very promising start the songs sound uninspired and consequently none stand out, which is a shame because you certainly get the distinct impresssion this band are capable of great music, but for every 'All fall Down' and 'All we are' there are tracks like 'Tyrant' and 'Somethings not right here' which sounds like a bad pastiche of Jeff Buckley, wailing isn't singing and can be quite grating in the wrong arrangement. But there is enough to enjoy here, you just wish they managed to maintain their evident quality throughout instead of sporadically.
