Amazon.co.uk Review Sarah Michelle Gellar may be saving the world from vampires but her TV show is also helping a few worthy bands get some much needed exposure. Dayton, Ohio's ridiculously prolific Guided by Voices lead things off with the playful "Teenage FBI," a strong distillation of the band's knack for the irrepressible hook. The all-femme Hepburn protest in true "Maggie's Farm" fashion (as in "I ain't gonna work on...") for the quickstepping, bubble-gum punk-pop of "I Quit". Bif Naked's arena anthem "Lucky" is perfect for staring at candles. Garbage are in suitably psychedelic glam shades for "Temptation Waits." Rasputina, the gothic cello ensemble, include the appropriate "Transylvania Concubine". The only misstep is from virtual old-timers the Sundays, who deliver a lazy-day version of the Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses." But this is made up for with the inclusion of Nerf Herder's "Buffy" theme song and Christophe Beck's instrumental theme music, which round out this all-inclusive collection. --Rob O'Connor

It grows on you March 19, 2008 This is deeply satisfying music, ideal for immersing yourself in the gothic world of Sunnydale's club culture. The sometimes dreamy, sometimes lively, yet always slightly dangerous undertones of this dark album have the perfect balance of the familiar and the unexpected. From the murmuring sensuality of 'Virgin State of Mind' to the pure teenage attitude of 'I Quit' and the baroque sliding tones of 'Transylvanian Concubine', this is one to put on, sit back and sink into. Buffy fan or not, this album is just good music with a generous 18 tracks of indulgent hedonism.
Pure Class July 5, 2007 At first- i thought this album was nothing special, but after listening to it a couple of times - it fast became one of my favouraite albums of all time. Pretty much all the songs are amazing - apart from i suppose "Transylvanian Concubine' - Rasputina and "Temptation Waits" - Gudied by Voices are a bit weak. The best songs, which are some of my favourite songs eva, are "I Quit - Hepburn", ' I Doesn't Matter - Alison Krauss & Union Station', 'Wild Horses - The Sundays" and PAIN - FOUR STAR MARY. Any buffy fan should own this album and have fallen in love with it! Radio sunnydale however, has nothing on this album - it only has a few half-decent songs on it.
Brill..! November 15, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When I first got this I was quite disappointed. I didn't listen to more than the first few seconds of the tracks. Then one day I actually listened to them and now think it is brilliant. I am not too impressed with 'Teenage FBI' but love 'Lucky', 'Nothing But You' and, best of all, 'Virgin State of Mind'. Give it a go. It even has Angie Hart's band - Splendid, which is always good.
Buffy Music Rocks!! March 16, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Ok i LOVE the show and the music if in my opinion one of the best things about it. This album is a must for all Buffy Fans, there is something for everyone. There are some fantastic upbeat tracks from Superfine (Season 1) and Face to Face (Season 4 Where The Wild Things Are), but if you want something more relaxing there is the beautiful 'It Doesnt Matter' by Alison Krauss which features in season 2 'When She Was Bad' and the epic 'Wild Horses' by The Sundays (think buffy and angel last dance) and one of the best tracks, 'Lucky' by Bif Naked from season 4. No Buffy Music Album would be complete without a Four Star Mary track and Pain is the best! This song feature is quite a few episodes from Dingoes Ate My Baby (Oz's Band) but Four Star Mary provide all their music (if you like this i recommend their album, Thrown To the Wolves) The tearful Chris Beck Score at the end is just perfect, the score right at the end of season 2 and the theme is continuous in all buffy-angel moments. The only disappointment is the absent Sarah McLachlen from the final scenes of Season 2 which are garunteed to get you crying. However I definately recommend this to all Fans!

I bought this soundtrack around 3 years ago, and even now it ranks as one of my favourite CD's in my 175 CD collection. There is such a varied mix of music on here, with the alternative sounds of Garbage, the pop infusion of Hepburn and the gothic melodies of Rasputina. My favourite tracks of this compilation are Temptation waits, It Doesn't Matter and Translyvanian Concubine. A lot of the songs on here are rock and alternative, but there are some acoustic and pop songs to appeal to anyone who wants a good album with some gems of tracks. I recommend this to any fan of buffy, or to anyone who just wants some unheard of songs that should be classics. Buy and enjoy for years as I have done!
