Every episode of hit television series Spaced had a magic musical moment in its first season, and here's the proof. The pilot's montage of Tim and Daisy rehearsing personal details to share a flat is via David Holmes' upbeat "Gritty Shaker". Opening the next was Japanese loungecore group Fantastic Plastic Machine's first of many appearances, here remixing the Eurythmics' classic "There Must Be an Angel". They later provide "Theme of Luxury" for Daisy's newsagent research spree and the happy motif "S'il Vous Plaît" for both seasons' street-dancing moments. Other regulars are the High Llamas whose beautiful "Homespun Rerun" features a couple of times, Fuzz Townshend whose Far In album provided "Smash It" and "Test Card", and Sons of Silence who only get "Bobby Dazzler" here. Real highlights are the smooth "Morse" from Nightmares on Wax which followed the cosiness of taking Colin the dog for a walk, and "Absurd" from Fluke, which underlined the comedy-drama of rescuing him in a raid on a vivisectionist's lab. Fans will like the dialogue clips, but might be sorry to find composer Guy Pratt's A-Team theme re-mix missing. Anyone after the show's best remix--"The Imperial March"--needs Beats By Dope Demand Volume 4. --Paul Tonks

I really wanted to give this cd 5, but it ain't that good. For one we don't get a few gems, where's the power of love, the a-team remix, the imperial march and the band music from the final episode? That aside it's great, David Holmes Coldcut and Cornelius are great and some nice sublime tracks are here, even the king of rock and roll has grown on me. The best surprise is The Fantastic Plastic machine, who make the most of having 3 tracks, and the most memorable, I cannot live without 'Theme of Luxury' its ace. What provides the most heartache is the fact there's not gonna be a series 2 cd, where the music is just as good, nothing has been more traumatising since the no show of the chasing Amy soundtrack. This cd though is top but don't expect anything ordinary. Oh and check tyres sample it says more for clubbing in 10 seconds than Human traffic managed in 90 min!

Well, it had a lot to live up to. Unfortunately the sheer volume of quality music featured in Spaced series 1 meant that not everything would make it. The majority of people I have spoken to about it immediately ask "Is the A-Team remix on it". The short answer is no, as that one was a creation of the composer for the show.
On the whole however, I was not dissapointed. An eclectic blend of snippets and tracks from the first series make this a quality buy, but not only for the Spaced fan. Everyone has something to gain from this CD, especially those with a more adventurous sense of musical taste.
Enjoy - but lament the missing track...

A very eclectic mix of dance, scratch, chart and rare grooves that will make you tap your feet and singalong all at the same time. Watch the series for the most imapact. It's worth it.

I bought this CD hoping that my favourite tracks from the series would be on it. The episode where they go clubbing had some of the best tunes from the series; the re-mix of the A-Team theme was fantastic, for example... but not on the CD. I thought that quite a few of the best tunes were missed off in favour of a mix of 'muzak' from the show. Of course, there are exceptions; Coldcut's "Beats and Pieces" and Yomanda's "Synth and Strings" are brilliant, but on the whole, I was a little disappointed with the CD. Perhaps if I could have listened to it beforehand I would have bought the singles of the tunes I liked... then again, I would have missed out on the "Disco Fudge" quote, which has me laughing out loud each time I hear it.

This C.D is brilliant. You can take it to a party and people will dance or play it at home and be totally chilled out. The only downside is there are not more songs from the show featured on the album. It does not matter if you watch the show or not, as long as you like listening to good music you will like it. Go out and buy it now!
