4 out of 5 stars 'Yo ho ho, a pirates life for me'   December 23, 2006

This is a BRILLIANT soundtrack and just as good as the first with the memorable theme tunes of the organ playing DAVY JONES, the satanic monstrous KRAKEN and the tuneful, boingy theme of the guy we all love JACK SPARROW. There's also plenty more music from the film (which did I forget to mention is AMAZING only second in my opinion to the STAR WARS SAGA) such as the music accompnying the brilliantly choregraphed sword fight on the island leading to the giant wheel and much more. However I agree with the previous review (that you may have read also) that the 'remix', the last track on the CD is absolutely AWFUL and I can't express this enough, its TERRIBLE, its DRAB, ITS THE WORST TRACK OF MUSIC I'VE EVER HEARD and does not fit in with the other music AT ALL or with the Pirates of the Carribean world. Apart from this odd track I would say this soundtrack is a great buy.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent soundtrack except for one thing!!!!!   October 16, 2006

This soundtrack is excellent... just as good as the first one. Hans Zimmer has lived up to his usual high standards of movie soundtrack composition. I would totally recommend this to anyone... it's great whether you've seen the movie or not... although you MUST see the movie if you already haven't!!!

I guess you're wondering why I have given this only 4 stars if I like it so much? Well it's simply for this reason... the final track on the cd is an absolutely attrocious, extremely unecessary dance remix of some of Hans Zimmers music from the movie. I can't understand why this was even put on this cd!! It doesn't fit in with the other tracks!! Why would anybody do it?!?! WHY??!!! WHY???!!!!!!!! It's not like it's even been remixed well... you can barely make out the Pirates tune in it!! Such a shame that it was put on the cd, otherwise I would have given it an unquestionable 5 out of 5!!

Apart from that monstrosity that is the last track, it's an excellent soundtrack... go and put it in your Amazon shopping basket NOW!!!!!

More of the same of the first from Hans Zimmer who takes more of the reins with this. Good music but where's the main theme gone? Thumping base and guitar riffs made this stand out from the rest and are sadly missed but that's sequels for you I guess. The DJ mix at the end would have been awesome with this as its base.
The tracks are all good though and it's a worthy purchase if you liked the first one.

I really like the music on the soundtrack but half of it is missing from the film. the beginning , the credits and part of the jack/will/norrington fight scene aren't there which is annoying because they are some of the best pieces of music in the film. Wheel of fortune only shows half of the wheel fight scence which sucks. I overall prefered the first one but the 2nd is good and alot darker and heavier. My favourite is Jack sparrow but i love davy jones aswell and have taken to learning it on my piano

4 out of 5 stars Excellent soundtrack except for one BIG point!!!!   July 11, 2006

Just like the POTC soundtrack for the first movie, this one is absolutely excellent, very powerful music!! However, there is one BIG problem with it, and that is the last track on the CD. This is supposed to be a classical music soundtrack so why is there an awful dance remix on it?!!?? This track doesn't fit in with the rest of the cd at all, I just can't understand why it's on there. When I discovered that 'Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me' wasn't on the first soundtrack I was disappointed but soon got over it because of the great music. But to be honest, you can't listen to the new soundtrack from beginning to end because of that ridiculous final track!!!!!! I feel like the last track could of been the End Credits music from POTC2. Because of this, I have been forced to deduct a star from my overall rating!! EXCELLENT MOVIE BY THE WAY!!!!!!!
