Awake, classical-pop sensation Josh Groban's third studio album, is arguably his best yet. The virtuoso baritone covers another erudite selection of songs, once again notable for their drama, romance and emotional resonance. Produced by Guy Sigsworth and David Foster (among others), the album begins with a rousing rendition of "Mai" (sung in Italian) and the recent single "You Are Loved (Don't Give Up)", both of which display not only Groban's justifiably famous vocals but also a fuller orchestral sound that contrasts with previous piano-led work. Other potent examples of Groban's engaging performance style are "Un Giorno Per Noi," the wistful theme to the 1968 film Romeo E Giulietta, "L'Ultima Notte" and "Solo Por Ti". Perhaps more interesting from a creative point of view are the collaborative songs that appear towards the end of the album. The short but superlative "Lullaby" and the emotive "Weeping" feature the distinguished voices of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, while the surprisingly funky "Machine" reveals the influence of its collaborator, the jazz-funk legend Herbie Hancock. Despite these notable embellishments, the key focal point remains - and will likely always remain - Groban's lush, hypnotic voice. --Danny McKenna

Joshua Winslow Groban (27/2/1981) is a Grammy-nominated American singer/songwriter with a baritone singing voice.
This album is the singers third of 4:
His 4x platinum debut album JOSH GROBAN was released on November 20th 2001,
His second, the 5x platinum selling CLOSER, was released on November 11th 2003, AWAKE {2x platinum} was released on November 7th 2006, and his Christmas album NOEL was released October 9, 2007 {2x platinum.}
According to information that came from the CD/DVD version of NOEL, AWAKE the live concert CD + DVD will be available early in 2008.

Inspired by a visit with Nelson Mandela to South Africa, Josh set up THE JOSH GROBAN FOUNDATION to help children in need through healthcare, the arts and education. Mandela appointed Groban as an Official Ambassador for Mandela's Project 46664, a campaign to help raise Global awareness of HIV/AIDS in Africa. Also on September 2nd 2007, Groban donated $150,000 to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to fund music education.
Some of Groban's musical and vocal influences have been Radiohead, Paul Simon, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Björk, Mandy Patinkin, Klaus Nomi, George Hearn and Luciano Pavarotti.
I first discovered Groban on the soundtrack to the 2004 animated film The Polar Express singing BELIEVE, and have been enthralled by him ever since!
If you like Josh Groban, this album is his most modern, and so he is showcased to the best of his ability.

Excellent album of Josh finding himself November 4, 2007
This album is brilliant - it has a combination of classic songs and more modern style songs, and its the combination of these styles which brings the album together. Moreover you can hear Josh is developing his singing and songwriting skills if you listen to his lyrics and the music - he seems to be finding himself after having had a good kick start with his debut and "Closer".
The DVD is fun to watch especially as it shows Josh as his usual, loveable, goofy self!

having been a singer since 1962 and having listened to some great singers over those 40+years Josh Groban is in my opinion one of the most eloquent Ive ever heard."You are loved"(dont give up) is a beautiful song sung with such depth of feeling it brought tears to my eyes.A truly talented artist one who deserves all the success in the world.

I became a fan of Josh's having seen him perform on Classic FMTV. He has a beautiful voice and this album, like his others consists of songs in English and others in Italian (I think?). The DVD is about the making of the CD album and not a visual performance of Josh singing the tracks on the album. It grew on me after a few playings and I now think that it is a great CD. Words to all 15 (INCLUDES 2 BONUS TRACKS) songs included.

This is the third and latest album from Josh Groban. It is in a different and refrshing style from his last two. As expected, it contains really beautiful songs. He is even rocking out a bit with some drums and a little guitar. Another nice thing is that he has started using his falsetto more which is really good and adds a nice touch and variety to his songs.
Good voice, good songs, good lyrics. Also the DVD is funny and gives us an insight into what Josh is like. He has a nice personality from what I have seen.
