2008's most promising new star February 23, 2008 Barcode: 0602517541061
How adorable is Duffy? I first saw her performing on Jools Holland's TV show and was completely won over by her performance. She has an amazing voice and judging from the amazing Rockferry and current single Mercy, her album is going to be awesome. Loving the arkwork on this single too.
Rockferry is a big slice of retro soul ballad, it sounds like it could be right out of the 60s while at the same time coming across effortless modern. Epic in its grandeur, a beautifully moving song.
Oh Boy is very different from the a-side, it's yet another platform for Duffy to show off her incredible vocals. A sweet little number with just her and an acoustic guitar, this reminds me of the Sugababes song 'New Year'.
Tremendous A Star is born. February 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Maginficent, brilliant for once the superlatives don't seem to do justice to this wonderful song. Comparisons with other female singers will be thrust into the hat .. Amy Winehouse, Dusty Eva Cassady a female Black (Colin Vernacoumbe) why bother just lay back and enjoy this wonderful debut.. Watch this artist closely before America snaps her up.

Stunning! This sends shivers down the spine and this single is an excellent taster for the album (due out March 3rd?) Her voice is bluesy and conjures up echoes of Dusty and more current comparisons with the power of Amy Winehouse. Duffy is going to be huge in 2008. Remember where you read that first.
A definite rising star December 13, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Absolutely love this single, and the B-side is great too. Duffy has an incredible voice, a bit bluesy, or almost country sounding, and there's a definite air of the sixties to 'Rockferry'. Occasionally sounds like she's channeling Eva Cassidy, but rockier. So difficult to describe her! As distinctive and hard to categorise as Amy Winehouse (who I also love). Word to the wise, if vinyl isn't an option for you, both the A and B-sides are available from a fruit-related download store! A brief surf of the internet will also lead you to a sample for a third song (Warwick Avenue), and full-length (free) download of another (Breaking My Own Heart). (Can't be too detailed due to amazon review rules).
All in all, it's definitely whetted my appetite for the album. Can't wait!
