Fantastic! June 30, 2008 For me, Rihanna is one of the best artists around. I have been to see her live and she is a very good preformer. Good Girl Gone Bad is the best album so far by Rihanna. Umbrella and Good Girl Gone Bad being the best tracks. I would recommend people to go and buy it.
Take a bow..................... May 25, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this CD because of the track; "Take a bow". It's a song many a women would identify with. I just hope they exhibit the strenght shown in Rihanna's lyrics, calling it quits with "him" knowing what you're worth and seeing that there is no way in the world to wake up a dead donkey. Patience, time and wisdom will find you a real man! Well done Rihanna!!!!!!
I Love It <3! May 20, 2008 Well. wat can i say, Rihanna's certainly done it this time- its a exxellent album with a large variety of songs. You get some bands where all the songs are the same but on this slbum every song is different to the next! Its great!
One star for amazing production May 20, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I don't have much to say about this girl, aside from the fact that I'm completely disappointed that out of all the talent that's come out of Barbados, she happens to be the most popular.
Anyone with even partial hearing can tell that her voice is ALL STUDIO PRODUCTION. It's sickening that she's even classified as a singer. I wont deny that she has some catchy songs, but she doesn't write them so why are we giving credit to her for her *songs* when the most she does is (as another reviewer so aptly described) nasal whine on them. I'm sure Umbrella wasn't a hit because of her amazing vocal talents, more that the actual song was catchy (despite its ridiculous lyrics).
*Reportedly, Umbrella was written for Britney Spears, but due to unforeseen circumstances, namely her public breakdown, she didn't record it. I'm POSITIVE Britney would've done a smashing job of it*.
Kudos to her (Rhianna's) production team because not only have they produced one song, but they've managed to produce a WHOLE ALBUM that defies all laws of physics and actually makes someone that should naturally sound like Donald Duck (at best) sound like she can hold a tune (anyone that's heard her live will protest that she can actually hold a tune).
The fact that this girl has won a Grammy speaks volumes about the current state of the music industry.
Shut Up And Dance May 17, 2008 Some people are hard to please I guess.
Formulaic....Yes.... but the formula's good (and if the medicine's good....)
"She aint no beyonce doesnt have the voice, looks or talent to compare...."(sic)
Well DAVE gotta be disagreeing with you there.
What we've got here is a pure slice of five star pristine pop.
Songs of strong rhythmic and melodic content. Sharply performed. Crisply produced.
Even the duets work dammit ! Mr Ne-Yo's presence on 'Hate That I Love You' is particularly charming. Mr Timberlake's on 'Rehab' unintrusive.
Charming?....Yep....Nothing wrong with that in these Grand Theft Auto days.
Sweet....As a lollipop....Title track 'Good Girl Gone Bad' manages however to deliver confectionary with more than a little edge.
It's the heady mix of vulnerability and strength which makes this little jewel of an album shine. 'Cry' , a particularly vivid example of this duality and contender for top track ('Say It' comes a close second ).
You wanna dance ? You wanna sing along?
'Course you do !
'Umbrella' (....ella, ella, eh, eh) doesn't disappoint on both counts.
'Push Up On Me', 'Don't Stop The Music', 'Breakin' Dishes', 'Sell Me Candy' all groove along in delightfully mindless fashion.
'Shut Up and Drive' steers perilously close to Sugarbabes territory - bumper to bumper truth-be-told but perhaps they won't mind.
There is more than enough room in the world for Ms Rihanna and this fine little album.
Mind, ears and heart open ?....Away You Go....Enjoy !
