Nikon 70-200mm F2.8G VR lens Reviews by dpreview.com

Nikon has announced the new Zoom Nikkor 70 - 200 mm F2.8G AF-S VR IF-ED (whoa, nice short name) on 2002. NIkon 70-200mm f2.8G VR lens has a fixed body, internal focus and internal zoom mechanism. It also has a 'Silent Wave' focusing motor and 'Vibration Reduction' stabilisation system. This lens has has a bright F2.8 maximum aperture across the zoom range and uses high quality ED glass. Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 G VR Lens' clearly directly comparable to Canon's 70-200 mm F2.8L IS.

New compact, lightweight G-type fast telephoto zoom lens featuring SWM and Vibration Reduction

TOKYO - Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the development of a new lens, the AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED. Nikon 70-200mm f2.8g lens is being developed as the first truly compact, lightweight AF-S Zoom-Nikkor lens to offer the VR (Vibration Reduction) function.

The Nikon 70-200mm f2.8g lens is targeted at professional and advanced amateur photographers to whom the advantages of high optical performance and high speed are top priorities.

The Nikon 70-200mm f2.8g lens  not only features Nikon's exclusive built-in SWM (Silent Wave Motor) for ultra-fast, ultra-quiet operation, but also employs Nikon's VR system which minimizes blur caused by camera shake. The adaptive VR system allows the use of slow shutter speeds when dictated by low-level available lighting or the demands of specific subjects. An secondary "Active" VR mode is available, which compensates for the intense vibrations experienced when shooting from a mechanical platform such as a moving motor vehicle, ship or helicopter.

This Nikon 70-200mm f2.8g lens  delivers superior optical performance thanks to the incorporation of five ED glass elements and high-grade Nikon Super Integrated Coating. With a fast constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 at all focal lengths it is an eesential lens for professional-level photographic needs.

Note: G-type AF-S Nikkor lens is fully compatible with the F5, F100, F80, F65, D1-series and D100 cameras.
