Nikon F6 SLR 35mm Film Camera - Description:
Nikon’s new top-of-the-line professional film 35mm camera, the F6, indicates the depth and breadth of our dedication to truly high-quality photography. The F6 has been refined to a degree that is hard to match. It’s mechanical innovations offer greatly enhanced stability and durability, as well as enabling quieter operation than ever before and its advanced electronic improvements mean an extremely high-speed, high-quality performance. Nikon F6 provides a pure, gratifying photographic experience.

Nikon F6 SLR 35mm Film Camera - Features:
Main Features of the Nikon F6

  • The matrix metering in the F6 uses the 1005-element color sensor in the viewfinder, though the algorithms have once again been tweaked (more focus and distance information is considered than before) and the sensor does more than before (see next).
  • Flash metering with a CLS-type flash (SB-600, SB-800) is i-TTL and set via the 1005-element viewfinder sensor ala the D2 series. (Regular TTL is still supported for older flash units via a five-element flash sensor in the mirror box.)
  • The viewfinder itself is no longer removable and replaceable in the Nikon F6. The eye point has changed to 18mm (from 20.5mm), but magnification, optional screens, and 100% view are all the same as the F5. Diopter adjustment is down slightly with only a -2 to +1 range (accessory diopters can change the range, though).
  • The autofocus system of the F6 now uses the CAM2000 module (11 sensors, 9 cross-hatched) instead of the CAM1300 (5 sensors, 3 cross-hatched).
  • The central area is reliably blanketed with very efficient sensors, so much so that there is a noticeable difference in low-light autofocus response over the already good F5. As with the D2 series, you have new group autofocus functions and a great deal of flexibility in how focus is obtained and tracked. If you liked the F5's autofocus, the F6 will knock your socks off (though it'll take much more practice to master due to all the new abilities and settings).
  • Metering System: Nikon's Advanced Exposure Metering System includes 3D Color Matrix metering with improved algorithm, a flexible Center Weighted metering and Spot metering corresponding to any of the 11 selected focus areas
  • Autofocus: Autofocus system inlcudes Multi-CAM 2000 Autofocus (AF) Sensor Module, with advanced high-speed, high-precision 11-area AF system with 9 cross-type AF sensors. Also includes Four AF Area Modes such as Single Area
  • AF, Dynamic AF with Focus Tracking and Lock-On(TM), Closest Subject Priority Dynamic AF and Group Dynamic AF.
  • Usable Lenses: All AF-D, AF-G, AF-I, AF-S and AF VR Nikkor lenses provide full AF and metering operation. AI-P lenses provide manual focus w/electronic rangefinder and full metering operation. AI lenses provide manual focus w/electronic rangefinder, aperture priority and manual exposure mode, C/W and Spot Metering operation.
  • Shooting Modes: Program, Flexible Program, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, Manual. Also allows for exposure xompensation, Auto Exposure/Flash Bracketing.
  • Film Advance: Four film advance modes, including Single (S), Continuous Low-Speed (CL) for up to approx. 3 fps,
  • Continuous High-Speed (CH) for up to 5.5 fps (or 8 fps with optional Multi Power Battery Pack MB-40) and
  • Continuous Silent (Cs) for nearly silent operation at approximately 1 fps.
  • Flash: Nikon's Creative Lighting System (with SB-800/600 Speedlights) includes i-TTL Balanced Fill-Flash, Wireless
  • Advance Lighting capability and AUTO FP High-Speed Sync capability up to 1/8000 second.
  • Shutter speed: 1/8000 to 30 s; stepless in P or A; 1/3 EV steps in S or M; Bulb
  • Exposure metering : 3D Color Matrix, Center-Weighted, Spot; EV 0 ~ 20 at ISO 100 with f/1.4 lens (EV 2 ~ 20 with Spot Metering)
  • Power source : Two CR123A or DL123A batteries; Multi-Power High Speed Battery Pack MB-40 accepts eight R6/AA-size batteries or Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL4
  • Dimensions (W x H x D) : 158 x 119 x 77.5mm (6.2 x 4.7 x 3.1 in.)
  • Weight (body only without batteries) : Approx. 975g (34.4 oz.)

I bought the nikon f6 film camera body and I felt this camera needed more praise then I expected. The nikon F6 is a stunning instrument, in terms of speed and also design, layout, and build. Nothing we haven't heard before about this camera perhaps but it's all so true. It instills pure confidence to go out into the real world and make art, digital be damned. thes best of all slr film cameras I found the nikon f6 body, durable, solid, I will recommend it 100%!
