overall i have been pleased with the performance. starting is good but can be stubborn if starting half-cold. I have managed to break the anti-vibrartion spring on the handle and the rubber seal on the fuel cap is perished and needs replacing. the plastic casing seems to be standing up ok - but there could have been a stronger front to avoid wear where the saw meets the log. I find it awkward when used to cut horizontally because the anti-vib spring prevents you applying pressure to the lower half of the handle. good value for the money and ok for the d.i.y. forester.
good value October 16, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have owned this saw for about a year and it has performed very well. I have replaced the original chain with a sthil chain which greatly improved its cutting performance.
You get what you pay for.... September 8, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Performed v well for first 6 months, but tightening nuts for the chain bar now faulty (I see a theme here with other reviews)...
Does what is says on the box (or what remains of the box) August 11, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this to cut up a large silver birch tree in the garden and, four hours later, everything was down to the right kind of size for the garden.
Would I buy this model again? Certainly, it does everything that I could reasonably want to do.
I would re-iterate buying some more chainsaw oil before you start using it, as it would a a real shame to have to stop after only 30 minutes. The chainsaw oil is really cheap (I paid only 2.88 in a local hardware shop for 1 litre).
Seems to do everything it is supposed to do.
Obvious word of warning - chainsaws are brutal tools and you really do need to know what you are doing to use any chainsaw safely.
Great value for money June 7, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Bought this in 2005 as my first chainsaw. I have used it many times to cut 100's of logs from tree trunks up to 14" diameter. Doesn't use much oil, reliable, powerful (even on a 50m extension cable), comfortable, lightweight easy to use. Have only resharpened the chain once in this period. Buy it if petrol chainsaws scare you!
