Far Cry 2 finds you caught between two rival factions in war-torn Africa. You're sent to take out "The Jackal," a mysterious character who has rekindled the conflict between the warlords, jeopardizing thousands of lives. In order to fulfill your mission you will have to play the factions against each other, identify and exploit their weaknesses, and neutralize their superior numbers and firepower with surprise, subversion, cunning and, of course, brute force.

Built specifically for Far Cry 2 by the award-winning Ubisoft Montreal development team, the Dunia Engine delivers the most realistic destructible environments, special effects, such as dynamic fire propagation and storm effects, real-time night-and-day cycle, dynamic music system and non-scripted enemy A.I. You can explore 50 kilometers of rendered African landscape. Far Cry 2 also boasts real-time immersion. Real-time story telling, systemic auto-healing, and minimal in-game interface are just few of the features that will make you feel the tension of being alone against barbarous warlords that threaten thousands of innocent lives.

With your choice of a wide selection of weapons, you'll meet the fight head-on with your machine-gun, go berserk with your machete, or make stealth kills as a sniper. If you feel that the atmosphere is not warm enough, light up your flame-thrower and let your enemies and everything around them feel the heat. With your glider, trucks, cars, and boats, you'll fly, run, drive, slide and hover over this huge

open world

As a big fan of the first game I was initially a little disappointed with the new overhead 2D view and somewhat limited game area. The minimalist maze is certainly different from the lush jungle environs of the first. Graphically, first impressions are that its maybe even gone backwards a bit, but this is presumably a next-gen engine they are using so this must be the future and our eyes will adapt. Jack Carver has become a round blob with a big mouth, and evidently can't keep still so the pause button is very handy. The lack of a weapon was disconcerting until I discovered that eating the big pills meant the ghosts turned a funny colour and could be eaten too. I'm sure there's a gun lying around somewhere. Can't wait for the third one, heard rumours they are considering a skyscraper/platform setting with a new guy Mario and an oversized gorilla.

Now, sit down, dearie. Cup of tea? No? Suit yourself, but sometimes the tealeaves are just as good at predicting the future as the pre-release reviews on Amazon by people who've never played the game, if not better. Now then, there I go, where were we?
Oh yes. Cross my palm with silver and we'll see...oh, now. Far Cry two, you say. Well, I see you'll go on a long journey, meet a lot of people and shoot at them.
What's that? You think I'm a charlatan and I don't know what I'm saying? The crystal ball never lies, dearie. Lucky white heather? Clothes peg or two? No?
What else are the spirits saying, now. Eeeh, it's a bit misty...I'm getting the letters 'FC' and then number '2'. Does that mean anything to you? No, come back, I'm sure I'm getting something...

What's that you say? You'll wait until the game actually comes out before writing a review? That's a bit extreme, isn't it, dearie? I mean, nobody else does...

5 out of 5 stars A Review of the Reviews   June 24, 2008

I would like to say that I think the reviews of this game are fantastic, I give them all 5 stars, (game not available for comment). The typing is fantastic and made for some good reading. Awesome job. Amazon, sort this farse out once and for all. do not let people write a review of a game, book, cd, or any other item until it is on sale....it just makes you look a bit **** and to be honest makes me sad.
