Ordered this Sony having read other people's reviews, most of whom confirmed it as multi-region out of the box. Seems to be a bit hit and miss, as someone else said, this player arrived as Region 2 only. Tried the region 1 discs I already have (played on a previous, now defunct, multi-region player)and the player states that it cannot play them due to region limitations. Am therefore returning to Amazon for a refund.

I bought this DVD player because of it's multiregion capabilities and I wasn't disappointed one bit. A Sony DVD multi-region DVD player at this price is a great bargain. It plays region 1 and 2 (and others too) without any hassle. You don't have to enter any code to trigger it's multi-region capability. It will automatically play all the DVD's irrespective of their region. Apart from that, it contains all the standard DVD features. Please note, there's a Region 2 tag on the DVD and the documentation states it can only play region 2 DVDs, but that's a mistake (as mentioned in the product details). It plays all the regions. I repeat, it's a multi-region DVD player. Don't let that error mislead you.

Superb quality and looks, great price, cant really go wrong. If you are one of those wanting to play region x DVDs on region y machines mith multi region encoding, decoding DIVX, Y and Z doo dahs, then I may be wrong. I have tried many different DVDs in it and it plays them all fine

This is not a multi region player at all. The info says it is and then you get it home and on the back of the player it says Region 2.
I have checked various places for hacks and there isnt one.
Not very impressed with Amazon at all.

Im not so interested in Multi-Region, but just wanted a low cost player with good quality picture (I'm very fussy when it comes to picture quality!).
I havent tried this on a large screen, but on small screen the picture looks great (vibrant/accurate colours and no colour bleed etc.). RGB video output is provided for best quality.
Remote also controls my Philips TV.
Dont normally write reviews, but just had to for this!
Excellent product, amazing price.
