Go for it June 11, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have spent about 3/4 of a year looking and deliberating over tv's, waiting for new tv's to come out and waiting for the price to change. I have watched the price of this tv rise and fall also, although it has remained at 439 for some time. I finally went for it, everything i read kept bringing me back to this tv. when you buy a sony you know you are getting a quality product that will last you many years. It looks great the picture is fantastic, when you make a few adjustments (see the discussions). I attached a basic little ring internal aerial off of an old tv just to try my luck and i managed to receive about 80 freeview channels! so if like me you are planning to use in a room without an aerial point, you may be fine. Simply and easy to you, very happy with my decision, i only wished i bought it sooner and stopped wasting time looking at others!
Outstanding service and value June 11, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Very quick delivery on the day specified which makes life easier if you work. Replaces a very heavy Philips TV, so very easy to handle and looks smart. Set up by an oldie in 20 minutes. Great TV and delighted with saving so much against Tesco price. Every little helps!
This TV and Amazon are rubbish June 4, 2008 7 out of 17 found this review helpful
I bought this TV thinking that 100 good reviews and Sony can't be wrong. However, this is sadly not the case. the picture quality is nowhere near what I expected with a lot of can only be described as 'ghosting' when people move. I haven't seen it in action with fast moving images but expect that this 'ghosting' will only be worse. you have to be very far away i.e at living room doorway for it not to be so obvious . . .
When I complained to Amazon they refused to countenance a refund as I had opened the packaging. They will only refund items that a customer is not happy with if it has not been opened. There is a circular argument here that escapes me. I suggested returning the TV in the original packaging (albeit without the cellotape) and putting the refund towards a better and more expensive TV but this was turned down.
So doubly disappointed.

Great service from Amazon and a great tele from Sony. Ordered Thursday afternoon and it was with me first thing Saturday morning.
Easy to set up and quick to get used to.
A definite recommendation to anyone looking to buy this TV.
Fantastic.
Finally took the plunge! May 26, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
After months of deliberating whether to splash out and upgrade my 14" CRT TV, I decided to go for this model which seemed very good value and well reviewed. My hesitation was due to a general disappointment with the picture quality of LCD TVs, and because I don't watch that much TV. However, missing out on 'Gavin and Stacey' on BBC3 prompted me to think about getting freeview access and a better TV. I was also cautious about ordering via the internet, being a bit of a 'John Lewis' type shopper i.e liking a reputable shop that I can return goods to. But I trusted Amazon and after shopping around, I felt that the price made it worth taking the risk! Re: Delivery: The TV came within about 3 days, I was not home so went to the depot to collect. This was located quite close to home and work and they took it to the car for me, so no problem. It would be helpful to know in advance where the local collection depot is. Digital Reception: I knew I'd need a new ariel as my previous picture was snowy and I live in Greenwich in a dip between two transmitters, one of which is not yet geared up for digital. A new digital ariel did not work, so in the end I went for a Sky 'Freesat' dish (a one off payment)which worked out cheaper than having another ENORMOUS ariel fitted. But this would not be a good option if you want a TV in more than one room, as you have to pay for each individual Sky box. The TV: Well initally everyone on it looked a bit shiney, then I adjusted the colour tone and other settings and I'm pleased enough with the picture.
So all in all I'd recommend it - the 4 stars reflect the fact that I think that the picture quality on these LCD TVs could be improved further.
Oh and now that I have the freeview channels I realise what junk there is on the TV, and it's just repeated over and over again! And I have a red button to see the words on the Eurovison song contest! Looking forward to watching DVDs and films on the bigger screen, glad I went for the 32" rather than 26"
