Get a copy of Money 2004 August 28, 2007 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
Because it's fine. Money 2005 (is there anything after that?) was a disaster.
Like Quicken before it (now disappeared) Money appears to get worse with each release.
The presumption that anyone would type in all their financial details and then work in Money while connected on the Internet seems nuts - you'd have to be a total numpty to do that. You should be able to download share prices etc separately and then update when OFF the Internet.
Don't waste your money - get on an Excel course! August 28, 2007 15 out of 18 found this review helpful
Program regularly crashed, it took a lot of work categorising the types of transactions and was ineffective with loan products. Updates downloaded but didn't install. And now it won't work with my Nationwide accounts!?
I will go back to using Excel to manage my accounts and I cannot be bothered with this relatively useless piece of software!
MS Money Pain In Ass (Bring Back Quicken) August 13, 2007 24 out of 25 found this review helpful
I took the plunge when found out Quicken 2000 would no longer be supported in UK (Iminent PC upgrade means I will no longer be able to re-register my version of Quicken). MS Money has to be most unintuitive piece of software I have ever encountered and supposedly helpfull on-line connectivity is complete PIA. - Mortgage setup is rubbish (cannot cope with variable interest rates). - Different Account types require completely different setup process in completely different portions of programme. - Majority of linked web pages appear as "no longer available" Complete garbage.
Buy it and make sure you use it. July 30, 2007 22 out of 27 found this review helpful
As with all software to get the most out of it you have to make use of it.
Money could do with being more intuitive - however I have found it to be excellent in helping me plan budgets, forecast my cash flow and view reports. The monthly reports are excellent allowing me to compare how my current spending compares against a previous month.
I work as an IT professional and I hear a lot of 'Can I have a one click button to do this task?' - Life is never as simple as a 'one click button' and if this is what you are expecting from Money forget about buying it - in fact just crawl back under the covers because life itself is not a 'one click' affair - rant over.
If you want to get the most out of this excellent piece of software I'm afraid you have to use it and once you start using Money, like me, it may become an indispensable part of your finances...
Ok, but complex to set up and online features do not work July 18, 2007 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I have used an older version of Money previously and following a number of years I decided to try the 'latest version'. Sadly it is 2005 in the UK, however I am aware there is Money 2007 in the US. It seems a first glance to be more indepth but there is a point when the degree of granularity is over the top and I fear 2005 is reaching that point, however I may be being unfair and detail allows for good budgeting. However it is more time consuming to set up and significantly it appears many of the on line features are no longer working and reading the small print they will be switched off in Sep 07 anyway.
Final Verdict - I agree with last review, better than a book but alot of room for improvement.
