Amazon.co.uk Review These days, it's difficult to find a graphics program that stands out in a crowd of identical software offering the same features. Microsoft, with PictureIt! Photo Studio 2001, present a software package which distinguishes itself from its copycat brethren through innovation and ease-of-use. Gone are the pop-up windows with dozens of arcane developer-written options. They've been replaced with an instructional panel which offers hints and clear, concise instructions on how to get the desired performance out of every tool. Every task can be performed using PictureIt!'s user-friendly wizard-style interface. Because the wizards don't pop up in dialog boxes, they don't detract from the functionality of the program in any way. Some software programs may offer a hundred options that can enhance the way you work, provided you can first navigate your way through five levels of vaguely labelled menus and then decipher the programmer-speak describing what that option does. In PictureIt!, all available options are no more than two clicks away and are clearly described and documented. The help system has also been given a big facelift, making it much easier to use. Not only does it instruct, it inspires, with dozens of creative ideas on how to use the program. The help system has also taken a technological leap; if you perform certain tasks for the first time, the program will even ask if you would like to watch an easy-to-follow tutorial video on that subject. In addition to its revolutionary interface advancements, PictureIt certainly packs a wallop of features. Start with a blank project, or choose from over 500 project templates including calendars, greeting cards, invitations, flyers, and Web photo albums. Choose from over 20,000 photos and frames provided by PictureIt!, or use your own photos from the web, a scanner, a digital camera, or disk. Altogether, PictureIt Photo Studio 2001 offers a tremendous bargain and a first-class product that will allow even a novice to create both print projects and Web presentations, as well as well as perform advanced photo-editing tasks previously only available in complicated and expensive software packages. A great deal no matter which way you look at it. --Victor Andersen, Amazon.com

Good piece of photo software August 14, 2001 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
For the amateur user of photographic software this is quite brilliant. It takes a few hours and a few experiments to get used to it but within a couple of projects I was transporting my self to distant climes. The only downside is that it doesn't explain how to load disc 2 although I eventually discovered that all you do is but it in the CD drive!!!

Prior to me purchasing PICTURE IT PHOTO STUDIO my skills as a producer of anything artistic were less useful than a choclate fireguard. Now though my colleagues believe me to be some sort of artistic Guru inasmuch as I can produce practically any art/photographic work they are seeking. And that's due to the simplicity of the wizard like controls that make this piece of software the most exciting thing I have ever purchased for a computer. Believe me, If I can produce something recognised as art, then I have every confidence that a poorly trained chimpanzee could emulate my feats without too much trouble. This software is so easy to use that it makes learning the alphabet seem more than difficult. I own several other highly priced pieces of software that I have tried for too long to master, always failing dismally, being unable to grasp exactly what I was supposed to do with those endless drop down menus..... but now!! Just go and buy this software and see for yourself.
Picture It! Photo Studio 2001, British Version December 29, 2000 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
What a great product for editing your pictures and a great improvement on the 99 version. This package comes complete with everything you need to know about how to edit your work, and if you have got nothing to do then it will give you an idea, whether, it be professional parts for animation on a website of business cards for you clients or to the more fun task of funny money. Picture it! 2001 has it all! From the moment you start it up it is ready to use, we just plugged the scanner in and scanned straight away! No trouble at all. It cuts out pictures well and you can add many effects including border edges and clone paintings. You can drag and drop your pictures on to one another by using the filmstrip and then layer them by using the layering device on the right of the screen, all you have to do is drag the picture to the position to the level you need it to be at. One other implement, which is useful, is the touch up facilities. You can remove red eye, wrinkles or even dust and scratches! This is the best program for the job and you never know until you buy this product how easy and useful it is to use! If you loved the Picture It! 2000 and 99 you will want to marry this version. And don't forget all the bugs and have been removed to. So do what it says on the box, 'Make Good Pictures, Great Pictures!'
