2 out of 5 stars out of date, apparently   July 26, 2007

According to Accountz, "Personal Accounts Home Edition" is an old version. Unlike its replacement, "Personal Accountz", it cannot import online bank / credit card statements as OFX, which I gather is now the standard format. For me, that's half the point of getting this kind of software, so I know which one I'll be buying.

5 out of 5 stars Really simple is good   May 29, 2007

You see all your balances in one window so you know exactly what you have and what you have spent it on. Double-click on any balance, including the forecast balance and you get an instant view of just that account, including running balance and what it will do in the future.

Entries are dead easy too. If I want to pay off my credit card, the money comes from the bank and goes to the card, how easy is that! and not a credit or debit in sight. Perfect.

1 out of 5 stars WHAT A CHEAP JACK PRODUCT   April 28, 2007

What a waste of my money!
If you want to see all your accounts on one page then this is the one for you. Even when requesting a view of a particular account it is very confusing. I can't tell clearly what is a credit or a debit and my balances are nearly always wrong at the end of each day. Even the 'HELP' pages are confusing. Bring back good old 'Quicken' is all I can say.

5 out of 5 stars Support   January 14, 2007

I have owned this software since its pre Windows days. It has always done all that I could want by way of managing my finances even when they became more complicated when I retired. I have moved with the software from an Acorn computer, remember those, to Windows 98 and then to XP. I have received great support with each of these moves and I still have my original records intact despite changing computer architecture and operating systems. Thank you Accountz.

4 out of 5 stars Wonderful Software!   September 3, 2006

In the beginning, this software can appear to be very confusing and difficult. However, after playing around with all the functions over a weekend, rereading through the 15 paged guide, going onto their website to view the problem solving page and onto their on-line forum - to read problems posted by other users, you can soon get the hang of it! The way it works, is to have everything as separate accounts eg, accounts for your bills (ie petrol, food, etc), another one for your incomes and so on. As you need to have somewhere for the money to come from and to go into!

I found it so handy to view exactly how much money I have in all my accounts and to where all the money 'disappears' to every month. The forecast option is good, as you can see if you're going to be overdrawn or not, and it also allows you to see how much extra you can use to pay off any debts or how much you're saving every month. The automatic function is timesaving, as you can set up all your direct debits etc, to save you having to re-enter the same debits and credits everytime.

The only negative I can think of is the 15 page guide that came with the software, isn't informative enough. It only gives you the basics and not very clear. It's only through practice and trial and error, that you can see how it works.

Finally, I don't regret buying this software and wished I had bought it a lot earlier!
