R.I.P Netgear July 4, 2008 Absolutely fantastic, took a couple of minutes to get up and running on xp machine and no compatibility issuses, unlike previous netgear usb adapter. Very well priced and works a treat I would recommend to anyone.
Perfect July 4, 2008 Plugged in to a vista pc, windows update found a driver automatically. From opening the box to being connected in two minutes - no cd needed. Seems fast too. And it's a tenner.
Disappointing July 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this adaptor after reading all the positive reviews on here, but when I connected it up to my machine, it had trouble even seeing my wireless network (the router of which was only about 5 metres away). Eventually (after about an hour), it actually connected, but even then it was only at a pretty miserable 12Mbps.
I decided to toss it after less than a day and picked up an adaptor from a different brand and was suddenly able to connect at 48Mbps. Sure, it was slightly more expensive, but you get what you pay for.
Works perfectly with a Virgin media supplied router. June 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There are already numerous reviews on this product saying how good it is. I will add to this but mention something more specific about its use.
I am with Virgin media, and the kind people there sent me a free router (but only after I told them I was cancelling my subscription as they wanted 40 quid for it!) so I could use my PS3 on-line. It arrived but I wasn't told I needed a dongle to attach to my main computer in order to use the router. Not knowing where to start, I looked at the cheapest dongle, read the reviews, and thought it sounded spot on. It arrived two days after ordering and within 20 minutes my router was installed, the dongle installed and I was joining geek heaven and playing games on line! This product is so easy to use and provided you actually follow the instructions it's a breeze to set up. True value for money.
First class product June 23, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having read the other positive reviews I bought one of these to replace my BT Voyager one that stopped working suddenly after 1 month. I use it with a ~ 5 year old Dell laptop with the old USB1.0 connections. It works perfectly every time for general surfing. Haven't used it for movies or songs but im sure it would be fine. I use it in conjunction with a BT home hub which is two floors above the adapter without any problems. Tip for BT home hub users, if your struggling to keep a wireless connection change the wireless channel on the hub, I changed mine and it's like a rocket now and doesn't drop the signal. My only tip for this adapter is to print out the installation instructions from the cd before you begin - saves the hassle of swapping back and forward to read them.
