MacSpeech = MacScramble! May 3, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought 'Dictate' and have had a NIGHTMARE trying to get it to work - to no avail and despite several fruitless conversations with the customer service team. The program only works in itself - and spits out scrambled rubbish in all other programs... a problem that is WELL KNOWN and mentioned various blogs and forums... but a problem that the MacSpeech CS Team allegedly know nothing about! Poor show. I cannot advise anyone to buy this product.
Honestly, just brilliant!!! May 1, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am dictating this from MacSpeech Dictate after only training it 30 minutes. I will leave the review unedited so you can see the accuracy of this programme. It is far better than other speech recognition programs for Windows or Mac. It does have a few bugs that needs to work out, but the sheer accuracy of the programme is astounding. I don't normally write reviews but after seeing the previous bad ones for MacSpeech Dictate, I felt I had to say how impressed I have been with it. I would thoroughly recommend it and after the updates this is going to be head and shoulders above the rest. although, I do suggest not using the inbuilt microphone as it provided me with a few problems, but if you get the noise cancelling microphone the difference is amazing. My advice, buy it now!!!
Macspeech Dictate - Great! April 26, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I used Dragon for Windows when using a PC. It was just great. I then changed to apple - I first used iListen - it was, frankly - rubbish! It just didn't work so I dropped voice recognition altogether. Then I heard about MacSpeech Dictate, read some reviews and bought it. I did all the training. I used the USB headset that came with the package. The software seemed just OK. I was a little disappointed. I then changed to a higher quality plantronics headset and set up a new profile - I re-did the training - which did not take long at all 2nd time around and voila!! Fantastic results! It is fantastically accurate and in fact, as good as the Dragon package I used with windows. I hope the 'word training' option is released soon. However, I am very happy with this package. I have used it now speaking fast with legal and medical vocabulary and it really is very good. I think it may be important to ensure you are using a high quality headset.
Miraculous April 24, 2008 I am baffle by the negative comments. Training time Dictate is only five minutes. Its accuracy is incredible. Naturally a correction window would be welcome, and that is why I give only four stars. This review appears as I dictated it, without any corrections.
Poor support April 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
All problems eventually resolved by the company - although it took some time. It works very well although I really want some kind of spell feature. It will be better in time. It does work well but there is no way to teach it new words. The support system for this company is epically awful.
