I've tried LOTS of different ropes of many varying designs, and this so far is the best I've used. The price is reasonable, the rope is leather and the ball bearings work great - you'd be surprised how much difference a good rope makes to a workout. The only downside to it is that you don't get any weights to put inside the handles like on some ropes, however the ends of the handles do come off so there is provision for putting weights inside. The handles are pretty comfortable, and once in motion the rope is near effortless to keep in motion (a stark contrast to PVC style ropes).
If you're wondering whether to get a skipping rope to keep fit, it's probably the easiest and quickest way once you get the coordination, 10 minutes a day on one and any excess fat you have will melt away in no time! 10 minutes on a skipping rope is supposed to be equivalent to 30 minutes of jogging, so it's not hard to see why.
