Excellent! And ignore the comments about the battery not being replaceable, it is incorrect! May 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Hi, Bought this on the recommendation of a friend who has one, as I've just started running, along with mountain biking and circuit training. Firstly, IGNORE THE COMMENTS ABOUT THE BATTERY NOT BEING REPLACEABLE. It was the first thing I looked at when I opened the box. There is a slot on the back of the heart rate sensor that you put a coin in, twist it open, and low and behold, the battery comes out. It also tells you in the instruction book how to do it, no wonder they were off hand when he rang up complaining about it. Other than that, it does exactly what it says on the tin, it's easy to use, I worked it all out without having to look at the instructions. Stores plenty of data to compare your times against previous efforts. I don't know if each one is coded differently, but I play badminton and go running with a friend with the same one, and have not had any issues with interference. All in all, highly recommended!
Great place to start as a running HRM April 28, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have used Polar monitors for a number of years now and my previous one finaly gave up 6 months ago at which point I bought an RS200.
It is simnplicity in itself to get up and running with it. It links with the free online polar log book and is generally a well produced HRM with a robust feel to it.
Unlike the review above (maybe this person had a different chest strap, but the one supplied with the watch I recieved has a user replacable battery in the wearlink (chest strap).
The watch produces good summary information about the run and can maintain a history of exercise (14 prevous I think) which can then be uploaded.
There are several features in the watch that are useful to beginners, like finding your "ownzone" based on the exercise you are doing.
I would recommend this HRM to anyone starting up, though if you want to be able to use the Polar training software on your PC you will need to go for an RS400 or higher.
Expensive in the long run April 19, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Polar heart rate monitors work by recording the tiny radio signal emitted from a belt that attaches around your chest, a bit like a cupless bra in effect. I bought a Polar device last year; it is excellent but the transmitter battery died and, since the battery is sealed in and irreplaceable, I was left with little choice but to buy a new transmiter strap for 30. Polar, when contacted, were exceptionally rude and arrogant in their reply to my suggestion that the battery should be a 5 stand-alone replacement item.
Don't buy you'll get stung when the batteries need replacing.

Absolutely fantastic, simple to understand and set up. The watch and strap are very comfortable. Was using it within a few hours of it arriving as instructions are clear and straightforward. Great addition to my running, has given me new goals, direction and structure. Made me realise also that my running is far better than I thought! Reccommend it to pros and beginners alike.
