Product Description
Detects electricity cables, metal pipes, metal studs, wood battens and studs. The red LED on the detector will stay lit together with a continuous audible sound when metal is detected. When electricity is found the red LED will flash with an intermittent sound. If wall studs or battens are found the red LED will come on and an audible sound will be emitted, when the other extremity is located the green LED will come on and a lower pitch audible sound will be heard. Size 150 x 95mm. Powered by a PP3 size battery (sold separately). A detailed instruction leaflet is enclosed with each tool. Display packed.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Unsafe, poor design.   June 19, 2008
It failed to detect an oddly placed gas pipe 1 inch behind plasterboard resulting in me drilling into it. The emergency repair guy went "yeah, yeah" when I told him I had checked for pipes but I demonstrated step for step from the instruction sheet how it failed to detect the pipe. It is now in the bin.

Even if you have faith in it, the slider switch is so sensitive the only way to ensure that it does not switch on when left in your toolbox is to remove the battery.
