great design, poor quality September 12, 2006 these fans are fantastic if you don't like having to put up with the noise from your fan all day long. the unit is very sturdy, virtually elimintaing vibration.
however, mine didn't last long. i always had problems with the motor, sometimes having to shake the unit to get it going. it's simply a poor quality motor that is underpowered. the motor finally packed up after only 1.5 years light use. there are also some very strange material choices, like the plastic bracket on the front of the motor that you mount the fan housing onto. whether through exposure to the heat of the motor or something else, it became brittle and disintegrated, making it impossible to operate the fan with the housing around the blades.
considering that this item isn't exactly cheap, i would expect a much better product. a shame really, on the whole, the fan was a delight when it worked.
Excellent little desktop fan July 21, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
..though I mostly have mine sitting on the floor, it's air movement is pretty damn good considering its only a 10" fan.Looks fantastic (way better than the picture shown on this page), i thought maybe it would be kinda cheap and plasticy once I got it home but instead its chunky solid looking and has a nice weight to it. Another thing I noticed is that it has a really nice sound to it, going with the retro feel it reminds me of a small propeller plane type of sound. All in all a great fan!
Great fan, shame about the feet June 24, 2005 I've had this fan for about a month now and it's been a godsend in this hot weather we've been having recently. It's also pretty quiet and provides a good amount of air movement. Keeps me cool at my desk and at night. Better than any other fan I've had. And good build quality too.The only problem (and hence three instead of five stars) is that the black rubber feet leave marks on certain surfaces. I have a white painted table that I put the fan on sometimes and it is now covered in black marks from the feet. They come off with a little effort, but I'm glad I varnished the table after I painted it otherwise I might not have much paint left. This only seems to happen on some surfaces.

I bought this item for my partner and it was very easy to assemble. It has three different settings and keeps you very cool even if you are sitting at the other end of the room. It sits nicely on his desk and it has a very appealing look with a great chrome finish. I would highly recommend this to anyone! Definately Five Stars!
Excellent Value July 14, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
As someone else has said, a fan is a fan - not much you can add to that. However, this 10" unit is actually more powerful than the blown-out 12" one I bought it to replace. Additionally, most fans come from way out East and have assembly instructions that make 'All Your Base Are Belong To Us' Shakespeare by comparison (look up 'All Your Base' on Google for an explanation of that). This one has a nice set of instructions for assembly that actually make sense. All the holes line up, locating pins fit in slots, and screws don't jam or strip their threads. And the final unit is very sturdy. The build quality is excellent - a nice brushed metal effect, and you just KNOW it isn't going to fall apart unless you throw it around the room. Finally, a 3 year warranty is another you thing you don't normally expect with a fan.
