Great for getting out of a jam June 9, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Agree all the positive remarks already made. Especially don't work under it!
It works where standard jacks will simply dig into the mud.
If you have a large exhaust you may need Drapers 90mm coupling (I couldn't find it on Amazon) Draper 90mm Exhaust Coupling (69311)
Very good, but limited May 12, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is an excellent product within strict parameters. Firstly, your exhaust must be in good condition, (any extra holes will mean the jack won't inflate) secondly, if you have a multiple outlet exhaust, you must block all but one of your outlets (Otherwise, obviously, you will not build up sufficient pressure!).
Whilst it is quick and convenient for the general motorists use on wheel changes, it really comes into its own off-road. No other jack is as useful in soft ground, the wide footprint and high lift makes it ideal for those "axle deep" moments.
In short, it is handy for normal driving, but it is essential when off-roading (or even in a muddy car park!).
One final word of warning, never, ever work under a vehicle supported only by this jack, one slight mistake with a sharp object (or if you even catch the lever wrongly) and the jack will collapse!
Let me down in a big way. April 23, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have a 1967 S-type Jaguar, I decided one of these would be the best way to safely lift my car (in an emergency), Although my car is in good condition I did not want to use the traditional jacks, as it may stress the 40 year old sills and jacking points... I thought this would be ideal.
I had a blow out / flat yesterday and came to use my draper air jack... The set up is not too bad, I placed the two rubber mats in the right places and put the air pad under the car, and connected the exhaust pipe... I found that at idle it did not inflate at all. I had to rev my car to 4-5 thousand revs (VERY high for a Jaguar XK engine) to even get any inflation, and then when it did inflate it just went down again. Dangerous and annoying.
Yes it was connected properly, yes I followed the instructions. Yes i tried it twice.
In the end I gave up and called the AA. The AA guy was less than complementary about these air jacks, he said they were issued with them, and they were withdrawn the same day! He spoke of people using them wrong and there being all sorts of problems with them. His advice was to bin it / send it back.
This jack, to me, seemed like the ideal fix, but after having to try to use it at the sharp end it's a pain and of no benefit. Maybe mine was faulty, maybe as my car has two exhausts it cant get enough exhaust gasses? but I will be sending it back and buying a scissor jack or trolley jack. Small trolley and scissor jacks can both be had for under 15, and weigh in at not much more than this thing, they are also smaller.
(I am aged 30, in the UK and consider myself reasonably competent with cars )
Amazing Invention! January 17, 2006 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This inflatable air jack is amazing, and effortless to use irrespective of one's condition. It make jacking a car up like a child's play.Just connect it to your exhaust and up goes your car to replace the wheels. Just a piece of cake, the best invention that helps ladies and men with back problem, when the need arise to change your wheels.
