You`ll never know how you managed without this. June 20, 2008
I have put off many times from buying this, thinking I would eventually get it right by guess work. Struggling, foolishly with blunt tools. My son bought me one for 2008 fathers day. I set about sharpening the blades on my Stanley Bailley and block planes.When I finished I tried it out on some very hard Maple and Cherry wood I was working on and was amazed at the ease in which the plane cut. I was able to take off the finest whisper of wood shavings, some the full length of the piece I was planing-- 18 inches, a complete, unbroken shaving like duck down. Oh what joy! I have now learned not to struggle and get frustrated with blunt tools. Don`t you, its worth every single penny. Buy some oil though as the freebee with guide soaks straight into stone and there is not enough in bottle to keep stone whetted.
