not bad, great soundtrack September 12, 2007 The soundtrack is the best thing about this anime. I bought it thinking it was in English though. It's not, it's subbed in English. The animation is the best I've seen in a long time from anime of this decade.
One of the best anime movies you can buy. February 29, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is my personal favourite movie of any genre. it may not be quite as well animated as other titles like Ghost in the Shell or Ninja Scroll, but the production is superb. Created by Shinichiro Watanabe and Shoji Kawamori, and featuring music produced by the brilliant Yoko Kanno I absolutely love this film. If your familiar with the Macross series this movie is based around 300 years after the last series. If your not familiar with the Macross series and movies its basically a Top Gun-esque sci-fi featuring fighter jets that can transform into robots. The story is a complex love triangle between two test pilots Isamu and Guld and songwriter Myung. The story may sound a little cliched but trust me it works very well. This movie some of the best air-to-air combat action you'll ever see. The music is astounding and the animation is of very high quality, particularly in the action scenes. I honestly can't recommend this movie enough. Note the movie started out as a four part series that has been edited down into this version, I have seen the series version as well which has quite a bit of extra footage, both versions are very good
Great ending to a great anime! April 6, 2002 What is there to say about this episode apart from that it is absolutely brilliant. No other anime I have watched can compare to the drama, and tension Macross Plus has. This episode is the final piece of the puzzle as we discover the reason for the intense rivalry between isamu and guld. This episode has it all action, drama and tragedy. If you've already watched the other three parts, then what are waiting for? Get the final episode because believe me you'll love it!
This series is the best!! April 6, 2002 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recommend Macross Plus to anyone 'cos it is the best anime you'll ever see. The animation is superb and the music is great. The good voice asting adds to deep storyline of macross plus. Not as much action as the two before, but I stil offers plenty of gripping drama. Buy it because once you watch one episode of it you'll be hooked.
Wonderful anime January 18, 2001 This film is excellent. The story is rivetting. The rivalry between Guld and Isamu is well written. (You soon discover that the tension between them extends further than their professional lives). The animation is top notch, the sound track is awesom. (The opening song is hauntingly beautiful). What makes this film stand out amongst other anime, is the nuances, the little observations about human behaviour that gives this film/series, that extra something. For example, there is a scene where Isamu is lying on his back on the grass, looking up at the sun, pretending his hand is a fighter plane. Simple. But effective. Probably the sort of thing a person who is obsessed by flying would do. Watch this film. It is a gem!
