One of my favourite films October 12, 2007 Fantastic. I agree with all positive reviews of this magical , gritty original moving film. All family enjoyed it and tears flowed at poignant moment...watch it, love it In fact loved it so much I bought it for my bet loved film collection.
Well I am a cliched Irish woman and I loved this film September 11, 2006 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
As a repost to the cynical reviewer who decried the so called cliched Irish stereotypes in the film, I did not see anything like that in this magical and unusual film. It was a wonderful, strange mixture of gritty realism and magic, beautiful(the grey stallion was actually Spanish) horses and Ireland. Sad to be so jaded with life not to enjoy a couple of hours of joyous escapism.....
wonderful magical and moving May 13, 2004 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This film makes you laugh and cry, it starts with two young boys surviving in a hard bleak world with their alcholic father and moves on to be an incredible adventure story as the boys become fugitives on the run across Ireland. Through this adventure the characters find what was missing in there lives. It also has one of the most touching magical endings. Well worth buying. And fantastic for adults and children alike.
Gaelic folklore perfectly blended with gritty modern realism January 24, 2002 14 out of 16 found this review helpful
This is a brilliant film, the story of a white stallion who befriends two irish boys. Tinkers and travellers, Dublin and piebalds, humour and sorrow. Gritty modern realism perfectly blended with Gaelic folklore and the story of TIR na nOG.
An enchanting yet brutal portrayal of Irish life. April 17, 2001 10 out of 14 found this review helpful
Into the west teaches us and entertains us.True there may be one to many irish stereotypes but this film contains alot of truth. An incredible all irish cast and crew. This is a heartfelt heartrenching story, which gives us an insight into a culture and way of life many of us will never experience. Its full of charm and I love it.God Bless the travellers.
