This 1978 Italian/English dubbed tearjerker classic was very popular in it's heyday and on it's re-release in 1980.Most people will have seen this as a double bill with the other Italian classic "The Last Snows of Spring".Starring Carlo Lupo(in what seems to have been his only acting role)as Diego,a boy who is unwanted at home,ignored by the teacher's at school,and almost falls into the wrong crowd of boy's.Diego loves swimming and wishes to become a professional swimmer.He leaves school and home and ends up working as an assistant at the local leisure centre who happen to have a swimming team.His talent is picked up by the coach and Diego goes on to become a successful professional swimmer.However,Diego collapses after a swim race but despite his illness he is aided by his coach who carries on training him and Diego courageously continues swimming in championship's as he pursues his dream to become an olympic champion.Fan's of this genre will also like the film "last moments" which is also available via Amazon on video.
