A basic watch if that's what you're looking for April 30, 2008 Watches don't come much simpler than this one. But that was what I wanted. The digits are large and easy to read and the functions are few but all I need. The instruction manual takes 2 minutes to read and as much again to try out in practice. Some people don't like fabric velcro straps, but I do. It contains standard time, chronograph, 27 laps (Timex usually do 30 or more so this is just a "marathon" gimmick, but hey) and easy recall of laps.
If I'm going to nitpick then 1) the countdown timer is preset to a variety of times and doesn't seem user-configurable, and 2) the date readout is month and day only, no year, so when a leap year comes I suppose I'll have to adjust the date manually (unless it magically figures it out for itself and shows Feb 29).
For what I paid, I can live with that. A good purchase.
Great Watch March 24, 2008 I bought this watch when I started running a few months ago to time my runs, laps etc. It does everything you want it to and is really easy to use. It is much easier on the skin than other watches with metal or plastic staps.
I recently lost it on a drunken night out, don't have a clue how, but I'm buying another one now. You can't go wrong at this price.
Timex T5E631 Men's Marathon Watch March 24, 2008 This watch has a poor quality velcro strap which does not last. You are unable to configure the countdown alarm as required.
This watch should not be described as a marathon watch as it does not have any particularly useful features.
Excellent for hard exercise February 27, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this watch several months ago from Amazon to use in the gym and when out running. I was sceptical of the vecro strap at first but after using the watch for some very vigorous work outs I found the strap very comfortable and I like the fact that the cloth-type band lets your skin breath in a manner that a plastic or resin strap does not. On top of this the watch face is very clear and readable. The aforementioned features are not likely to be of great value if you only wear the watch when sitting around the house, but if you purchase the watch for use during exercise then these features make this watch a good purchase.
Straightforward, simple, satisfactory January 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This watch won't win any prizes in the status symbol stakes, but it does its job very well. Its main features: a clear, readable display; accurate; easy to adjust - less confusing than some other watches; effective alarm, stopwatch and count-down timer functions; comfortable to wear and quite pleasing in appearance.
A very useful watch.
